Obama didn’t leave the party in very good shape. He had 8 years to cultivate a real bench and completely failed.

I think Trump will get out of it like Elon getting out of the wrestling match with Zuck. A debate will help kill the idea that Biden has dementia and will reveal that Trump is an idiot. The chances of the debate happening are less than 50% and the chances of Biden losing the debate if it happens is way less than 50%. The chance of Trump looking like a bitch whining his way out of the debate is actually pretty high

In the past, I wanted to move leftward on economic issues with a more anti-corporate, pro-consumer stance and be more moderate on non-economic issues as a compromise. I don’t know if the latter is palatable in a culture war era.
Last debates worked out quite well for Biden. I think they are +EV, but if he fucks up and looks like a demented old man, they could be disastrous.
It sure feels like a majority of all voters think biden cant put two sentences together. He just did an hour and a half long live interview with howard stern the other day and he seemed with it. A lot of people are gonna be shocked at how not asleep at the wheel he is

I think the debates are good. Otherwise Trump gets to continue his channel selection. He gets to say to the Republican base that he’ll ban abortion and murder everyone and gets to avoid coverage to the mainstream. Biden can force him to have to answer those questions in front of a wide audience.
But from the data debates don’t matter too much either way :(

It’s exactly the right question. We can’t expect the Pelosi’s of the world to have moment of realization that they’re holding the party and the country back. There needs to be a sufficiently charismatic and better candidate to win over their coalition of voters and take the party from them.
Obama basically did it leapfroggin Hillary but as Riverman points out did not develop any young talent and foolishly wasted political capital on efforts at bipartisanship.
Trump wrested control of the Republican party from the Neocons. It can be done but who is there today who has a shot?
Well yes but it isn’t someone who has been groomed by the party leadership of the last 40 years. Asking who (like ikes is) as if that is some kind of gotcha is pretty dumb.

Nobody knows who the next generation will be because the corrupt fossils that control the party crush anyone with promise. So the power stays consolidated among people who play ball like Jeffries and the cycle continues forever.

Obviously Wichita’s reaction had to do with your tone. I doubt he’d call it a gotcha question if you said something like this:
“Assuming that can’t happen without the party coalescing around an individual, do you see anyone in the party now that could be that person?”
Instead of:
“So… who is this person?”

It’s obviously been said before, but the “left” in America is a coalition of many groups each of whom have a different set of top 3 issues. The “right” has roughly the same top 3, except different factions might have them in different orders.
