I’d rather allow assisted suicide to either everyone or no one. No limiting it to just the terminally ill.
Like everything in life consent is key.
How is limiting it to the terminally ill worse than never allowing in?

I wonder if water-carrying dumbasses that denied the evidence that was plainly in front of our faces years ago had anything to do with Trump winning
Microbet says you’re a hippo critic
:(
lol the fact that you have won so much money playing poker is a true testimony to variance.
Quite the genius take that me using data like this
In 2020 on a forum of 150 dyed-in-the-wool Biden voters is the reason Trump won in 2024.
Like you poker winnings, you were accidentally right on this. Zero skill was involved.
I’m not sad about it either. I’d also vote against it, but sad? Shrug. I’m not angry about the commutations though, even though they are people who did horrible things. Many of them were murderers. For example, two of them murdered five people after kidnapping them for ransom.
Russia definitely executes its own citizens, just prefers to do it extrajudicially.
Just saw a shocking claim that I’m still having trouble believing - biden/harris admin “lost track” of over 3000,000 migrant children, who could be literally anywhere. Sure, I guess it’s not cages, and this may be a bit crass, but I’d prefer a cage to being sex trafficked or worse. That level of incompetence cannot be an accident, it’s staggering. I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around it.
Lost track doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not with their family, right? If they’ve lost track of the whole family, then they have lost track of the kids in it. At least, I’m hoping that is a very large part of it.
These were supposedly children that crossed the border without an accompanying adult. I remember reading about this a long ass time ago, but basically they would release them from custody to essentially anyone, without any followup hearing in the vast majority of cases - so they have absolutely zero way to know their fate. I guess covid is probably the scapegoat, but “cmon, man.”
It’s been a right wing talking point for a while. The figure is from the 2019-2023 period. I don’t know how they determine to whom the minors are released to (or what a typical situation even looks like) but it seems like yet another broken part of this deliberately broken system.
Welp, I guess my attempt at denial was not successful.
Mostly good. The US government knowing where they are would make it easy for it to find, kidnap, and deport them.
Thanks. This part makes me feel better:
man that’s dark
and the fact they have an address but still can’t say is not really the out they think it is. cant someone go check? is anyone checking? if you want an example of how badly a supervised system can go when it comes to placing minor children with unrelated adults, look no further than the california foster care system. good god. this really bothered me more than a lot of things lately have. The next person that unironically tells me the biden admin did any better than trump on this issue is going to get screamed at
That’s why I said I have no idea what a typical case even looks like. Do they typically have family in the states? Are they typically 17 or 10? Do parents deliberately separate from them at the border because an unaccompanied minor is less likely to be deported? Are they released to actual randos with no relation? Are they ever just…released?
There’s just so much I don’t know. Can’t form a valid opinion about it, besides the core truth that any Republican talking point is going to be in very bad faith.
I guess I’m wondering what you want exactly. Ok, so let’s say they check and the kid is there. As long as they are not abusing them at the moment you check, what are you going to do?
Protecting the welfare of kids who are not under the care of well-intentioned guardians is extremely difficult. Even in the best of circumstances (as you suggest).
So, the question is are they better off with randoms or some ICE facility. If I were a kid, I’d take the randoms (who aren’t actually random, I think).
Yeah. The idea that the “Republicans want to save this kids” is the biggest horseshit I have ever heard.
Fuck that lying piece of shit. They just want them out. They don’t actually give a fuck what happens to them outside the US. This is why they LOL and brush off every single asylum claim.
The fact that the child that they want to “save” is desperately telling them that they would prefer to be here than be deported and Homan would still deport them tells you all you need to know about Homan’s motivations to “save” children.
The vast majority of them are almost certainly with family.
