Biden thread III: Enjoy your retirement

A Democrat president will never pull us out of a war again.

i’m not sure there is a better encapsulation of the Dems than Biden proposing a congressional stock trading ban on his way out the door, just for shits and giggles…

its the painting the tail of the bomber rainbow flag in real life… suggesting a popular election winning style policy with no intent to actually do anything

commuted 37 of the 40 on death row. left dylan roof, tsarnev, and bowers on there i guess to take a stand against religious/racially motivated mass murder.

not bad.

Leaving those three is super weird. Either the death penalty is wrong or it’s not.

Maybe it’s not wrong, but should only be used against strongly ideological murders.

I’m usually against the death penalty but I have no issue with those 3 getting it.

Commuting 37 death sentences is more than any POTUS has ever done. Obama did 2 on his way out.

In other Biden news, he authorized a last minute $571 million of military aid to Taiwan, following $567 million which was authorized in September.

Wait, you think it’s weird the Boston Bomber dude escaped the DP? He and his brother killed a cop AFTER the bombing. Commuting him would have doomed Dems for a century.

That’s politics, not morality.

The state should not kill people. Ever. Period.

This is another obvious moral realization that almost every democracy on earth has come to except the USA.

If an entire community has decided something is wrong, but the consistently worst member of that community is the only one arguing it is right, it is not difficult to decide which side is the moral one.

The US is in some “good” company in this one.

So you’re not against the death penalty.

Hey all, it’s Christmas. Can’t we enjoy a day without calling out each other.

I am capable of being 100% against the death penalty while also not having a problem with what Biden did. The death penalty should be abolished, full stop. But it isn’t and in this environment this is the absolute best for which we could hope.

I find the Israeli method of only punishing treason, genocide, and crimes against humanity to be acceptable.

I voted to abolish it in California but I’m not sad that 3 mass murderers didn’t get their sentences commuted to life.

I don’t have a problem with the state executing people who have done something so egregious there isn’t really a way for that person to be allowed back into society. However, since the US is incapable of administering it fairly I also have no problem with it being cancelled.

It also doesn’t matter what Biden did, Trump was going to shit on it. The republican’s figured out that everything the opposition does is bad while we keep trying to look on the bright side.

Just the chance of putting an innocent person to death is enough to abolish the death penalty for me. In addition, I’m 100% with Clovis that the government shouldn’t be in the business of killing its own citizens ever. Lastly, as an atheist, I think death is a far easier way out and less of a punishment than spending the rest of your life in prison

What about assisted suicide for prisoners?

If they’re terminal and suffering, sure. I imagine even the most evil deserve to die with dignity

My opposition to the death penalty isn’t to go easy on monstrous criminals. On the contrary; I think long term incarceration is the harsher punishment. In fact, the exception I might have is if an immediate family member or loved one pulls the switch. I just don’t think the government should be the one doing it
