Served 8 1/2 years in prison before being released by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to serve the remainder of her sentence at home, then served 3 years at home. Tragically, she’s now free.
Oh noes, he knocked four years off a 20-year sentence for a non-violent criminal, this is clearly the greatest abuse of presidential powers in recent memory.
What are you implying here? Biden and his staff put these people on the pardon list the same way every administration does.
Just play some video games and eat some birthday cake and don’t worry about any of this dumb shit.
It’s amazing how America can have 24/7/365 political debate and never ever under any circumstances talk about the actual issues they face. The reason the pardon plays such a huge role in america, and not in any other major democracy, is because it’s a last chance to correct the endless problems with its fundamentally broken legal system. The broken legal system is the issue not the pardon but as usual the debate in America ignores the actual problem and pretends the bandaid is also some virtuous aspect of AMERICA FUCK YA!
The pardon system is a way to “correct” for situations where a white person inadvertently gets caught in legal punishment that is intended for non-whites.
The pardon system is like the suicide prohibition in most religions. It has to be there to counter the obvious logical stupidity of the main superstructure. The genius is it’s then treated as a virtue itself and all its members use it to not have to think about the foundational problem.
To compare Canada has around 35,000 prisoners at a rate of 90 per 100,000. The US has over a million prisoners at a rate of around 540 per 100,000. This latter data is from Wikipedia so not clear which is accurate compared to the screen cap.
Biden pardoned 6500 people with pot convictions.
Not really. Most administrations may have some team that evaluates people for pardons. Biden did one mass pardon, unlike any POTUS since Carter.
This event here wasn’t a pardon, but commutation. Obama did some mass commutation like this, but most presidents didn’t do it.
The pardon system isn’t in the top 20 list of things that are broken with the US gov’t. Very weird thing to get worked up over.
What Biden did was good.
Don’t feed the troll
Free everyone would be closer to correct than no one.
Political enemy is a weird term for a guy who sent kids to prison who didn’t even really qualify for prison by the standards of our own system, and for bribes
He should consider himself lucky he hasn’t been Luigi’ed yet
Don’t worry, one thing you can be sure of is this is the last democratic administration for a long time that will do things like ending the war in Afghanistan, massive support for unions, student loan forgiveness, and prison sentence commutations.
Perhaps, but I still don’t root for cops or prosecutors or jailers. Luigi’s? Maybe. But 8 years in prison is a long time.
It just still seems like saying the tolerant left isn’t tolerant of bigots, to me
Dude was a cop/imprisoner. I’m not rooting for cops/imprisoners by wishing he’d literally rot to death in a cell. Like fungus and ants just eat him up inside a prison cell. Obviously I can walk and chew gum at the same time, by rooting for a theoretical future while also rooting for something to happen absent fruition of that future
Should we go into the leopards eating faces thread and say hey you dumbasses are rooting for the leopards
Maybe. Lol I’m probably wrong but I don’t care. Hope his butthole rots out from gangrenous cancer or some shit
8 years in prison is a lot. The question is about whether or not you love punishment. Lenin and Kropotkin had similar politics, but only one of them loved punishment.
I don’t go into the leopards eating faces thread at all.
I love punishment limited to the punishmenters. I admit this
If I try to take all the emotion out of it I can see your point
