Nothing matters, and obviously the right would find any reason to be faux outraged by the pardon, but in hindsight Biden and the WH probably shouldn’t have said “no pardon no pardon no pardon no pardon” and just said something like that should it come up, they will evaluate the circumstances of the case and the legal and contextual arguments for and against a pardon, and make a decision on those elements, like they do for every individual. Or some such mumbo jumbo.

So obviously this. I think Jon Stewart generally is on point, but his rant about the pardon being ridic wide totally misses the obvious point. Which is making it hard to prosecute Hunter for everything from here to the moon, legit or not. Which Trump would obviously do if the pardon was too specific.

I don’t agree with this at all.

This pardon is the biggest “pissing on norms” he’s done for the entire 4 years. And he did it to save his son.

In a vacuum, sure, who cares? But the fact that he hasn’t pissed on other norms that are far more important is worth criticizing imo.

It is difficult for me to see the optics of this without including the optics of the whole Hunter Biden affair. It took close to 3 years of lies before they found anything wrong with the Biden family, then the deal that was made which was in line with normal sentencing for those crimes was blown up by the Republicans. So while two wrongs don’t make a right, I have a hard time getting upset here since it was bullshit all the way down.
