More and more I am feeling this. I always do really well early in the season and halfway through I’m done because the lines have caught up with me.
It seems maybe baseball is the only sport worth betting if you’re not just doing it for entertainment and looking to make it a long term thing no? And even then you need a large bankroll and knowledge I surely do not possess.
MLB has a low hold %, but it’s due to the lines being so precise. If betting right before the start of a game, I realize there are people much smarter than me with more resources who have made sure the line is correct.
To anybody interested, I recommend reading The Logic of Sports Betting by Davidow and Miller. Gives a solid breakdown of the modern sports betting market and how to maximize your chances of winning. Miller has his fair share of poker books. No idea if they are any good.
I really only bet player props, but unfortunately, that gets you limited rather quickly. Basically banned/limited on Pointsbet and Betrivers. Down to 10% limits on Fanduel. Was a fun run while it lasted.

I only bet Philly at +6.5 because Bet Rivers was offering a free bet if your teams QB out-gained the other teams QB, and Hurts was forecasted to outgain Brady when you factored in his O/U of 44.5 rusing yards. Fuckin Tom Brady man. When betting against him, even when I win I lose.
