That Gonzaga game was utterly insane. But it also handed me by far the worst bad beat I’ve ever taken sports betting, and I’m going to shamefully share as a lesson so none of you ever make the same mistake.
I had $531 on Gonzaga 2nd Half ML at -385 on Draftkings. $100 on UCLA 2nd half ML at +570 on Fanduel. Should be a nice and easy $38 win regardless of outcome, right? Wrong.
DK does not include Overtime in 2nd Half ML bets. FD does, but you have to dig into their house rules to find that. UCLA wins the 2nd Half by one point to take it to overtime and then loses the game. Both bets lost. -$631. Fuck me. That game wasn’t even supposed to be close.
They do say arbing is like picking up pennies in front of a steam roller. But even with that exposure existing, it was so unlikely to play pit exactly as it did to happen. I still feel like an idiot though.
Damn, that’s brutal. Wasn’t around to mention this earlier, but yesterday was the last day for allowing mobile registration for regulated sportsbooks in Illinois. Starting today, you now have to got an actual brick and mortar location (most likely casino) to register for any site. Kinda ridiculous. Illinois gonna Illinois.
There’s a few decent promos today for tonight’s Championship game. DK has Zags +4.5 +100 (max $25), FD has o163 +200 (max $50), BS has $100 ML minimum on either team with opportunities for extra bonus cash regardless if your bet wins or loses, BR has a free $25 Masters bet if you wager at least $100 on tonight’s game.
I’ve got a promo through FoxBet where a $50 bet on the Masters gets you a $25 free bet. Anyone got any advice on a decent value bet before I just bet $50 on something random.
I just did $50 on one side of Bryson/DJ matchup and bet the other side on FanDuel. Will lose $0.50 but get the freebet. I also threw a small freebet I had on fox on TIE, since that isn’t a push on their site.
Great sweat. Was able to hedge a slight amount on Hideki live line at -290. Couldn’t do a significant amount due to the unlikely event where neither wins. Would be super tilted with that scenario.
Woulda liked to have seen how high the cashout figure got, but in my experience PB doesn’t offer those on free bets. Did see the live line get to +200. For sure will be the closest I ever get to hitting any bet at those odds.
