Betting on Politics: Predictit is NOT Dead

I mean, the bench looks super weak right now, and Clinton’s got the most connections and is probably the least threatening towards capital and billionaires.

Her team is clearly trying to get her into the mix with all these op-eds dropping. My guess is that they’ll do some internal polling and leak it if they get a poll where she is in the mix at all, and that’ll get them another news cycle. At that point any article about the 2024 primary field will mention her.

Let me boil it down to this: if Kamala doesn’t run, who beats Clinton in the South? Booker isn’t even on the PredictIt market. Abrams needs to win something in Georgia first. If Biden and Kamala don’t run, Clinton definitely has a lane if she wants it (which she clearly does).

Even if Kamala runs, I’m not so sure she can beat Hillary. I mean two of the biggest knocks on Hillary (she motivates the right, moderates hate her) are even bigger knocks on Kamala for unfair reasons but it is what it is.

To be clear I do not want this to happen, and I’m not betting on it either way at the moment. But if I could buy Hillary right now at a penny or two, I might have to throw a few bucks in there.

The people who should be in the mix in the next Democratic primary have mostly fallen by the wayside over the last few years by living in red states and failing to get elected.

If Biden didn’t run, right now I’d rather have a price on Field than anyone on that current PredictIt market. Someone like The Rock or Oprah or Michelle Obama or George Clooney could curb stomp the primary. Basically any celebrity with a halfway decent Q score…

This is all a huge indictment of the Democratic Party, but no surprise there right?

eh, even she’s aware enough to know she can’t win a general.

but I guess anyone probably loses in 24 anyway at this rate, Harris has been mostly MIA but likely gets it by default in a non biden scenario, congress has been it’s usual LOL self.

I think she thinks she beat Trump last time if it was fair, and has convinced herself it was the Comey letter or Russia that undid her, and I think she thinks she’d beat Trump in 2024 too. Ambition and everyone kissing your ass are a hell of a drug!

I think so but the two worst candidates that could get it have to be Kamala and Hillary. Like they’re both drawing dead even in a fair election, I think. Biden probably is, too. Close to it at least.

Ugh, I hope not.

Those 4 are probably our only hope.

Would you settle for a “moderate” tall white man who is former military? Because that’s what they’re going to try to find.

she might be the “favorite” but I think she’s a dog against the field in this scenario

There does seem to be an awful lot of leaks from her camp about how ineffective and unpleasant she is to work with. Ultimately getting the Dem nomination is a matter of having enough allies to rally to your cause. If everyone actually hates her, she’s dead in the water. The Dem process is very much a coronation of a candidate approved by the party.

True. But I can’t help but wonder if someone could ‘Trump’ the Democratic Party in a good way. That’s more or less what Bernie was trying to do. Maybe a little better, slightly different Bernie could pull it off. Unfortunately, I don’t think it is something that you can plan. Like Florida Man himself, you’ve got to catch lightning in a bottle.

The Dem base that votes in primaries is less likely to go for a “maverick”. It’s easier to get Republicans to buy into the “outsider” narrative because they instinctively oppose expertise anyway.

Hilldawg won’t run against Biden, but if he dies or becomes(lol) unable to run, she’ll absolutely try to knife Copmala. I’m kind of rooting for that just to see how overtly Obama will try to help Hillary.

She’s done and she knows it guys, let it go.

It’s difficult to run in a democratic primary running for president with democrats as president are gigantic failures.

Ted couldn’t pull it off on Jimmy and that’s similar parallel to here.

There’s no way Harris or Clinton primary Biden. If he decides to run for re-election and gets primaried, it’ll be from the progressive wing.

If he steps down and there’s an open primary, that’s where the possibilities open up.

the chance that HRC people are leaking this to WSJ to try to suss out a potential run is ridiculously small. this is close to 100% a conservative media invention to continue to own libs.

Jon Stewart, perhaps.

Jon Steward kind of turned into an asshole though.

How so? I haven’t kept up with him a ton the last couple years. He just popped into my Twitter feed a few minutes ago and I thought, “Hey, there’s a name.”

Something about covid being created in a lab like for sure not even “was it”

Every interview I’ve seen of him in recent years he’s just like bitter, burnt out, not really funny. I mean I get it, but I don’t know that surly and unpleasant Jon Stewart has a political future.

Stewart’s been irrelevant since he left the daily show in 2015. If he had any interest in politics, that ship has sailed.
