I’ve been thinking of this since Thanksgiving when my family had a soup dinner the night before. As National Soup Month winds down, lets chose the best.

It seems I have a clear winner in mind and I think there is one soup that can ultimately upset it

I made Mulligatawny and it was the big hit of soup night.
Can (and probably should) separate this into New England style and Manhattan style.
Not sure if there is a line between “soups” and “stews”, but it gumbo can be considered a soup, I think it deserves a nomimation.
When I was thinking about starting this thread I was planning on letting the people decide. Like, somebody is going to come along soon and nominate chili, mark my words.
I’m going to allow chili, stew, and gumbo and let people decide with their voting.
Say we have chili versus potato soup. I may like chili better, but don’t consider it a soup, so I vote for potato.
ETA: The way my mom made chili, it was way more soup-like.

Zurek Soup (Traditional Polish Sour Soup)
There are as many recipes for Zurek as there are regions of Poland. Our famous, uniquely-flavored white-borscht includes cuts of Polish Sausage, hard-boiled eggs and red skin potatoes in a rich meat stock.
Had this on vacation in Michigan here.
LOL if anything on this list gets in besides the bisque. No doubt they’re great dishes, but not soup.
Might as well call it food with a liquid component bracket.

If you eat it with a fork, it’s not soup.
This is the Best Soup bracket but the lunatic organizing it is allowing chili, stew, and gumbo in. So here we are.

I make this every other month, at least. Made it for a bunch of people, universal love, even among people that have no idea what a lentil is. Made a batch for a PTA function - theme was soups - this was the only one that was completely gone.
