Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

It has been 4 days and Mitch already says he wants to come back and try to make a deal.

And when do the negotiations begin? Pelosi doesn’t believe him, but it sure does create optics for the GOP.

To put this in trolley problem form (I’m a horrible Photoshop artist so forgive how bad it is), this is kind of what I’m hoping for:

This version someone else made is what I think the advocates here are more likely to get based on exactly how evil the GOP is:

Imaging thinking this is an accurate description of this thread.

We’re going back and forth about huge unnecessary loss of life. What’s not grotesque about that?

GOP knows their best chance in November is issues with voting, so it’s in their interest to not do any bill that helps the post office or gives money to states which could then use it to help with the election or even to have the virus at low levels.

They want dems who believe in reality and thus don’t want to go to polling places to mail in their votes while R’s are in fantasy world so will go pull the lever for GOP before catching covid and dying.

If that happens, then it just takes a bit of postal delays and GOP wins the election.

So the virus going for herd immunity with schools etc is great for their chances.

I’m sure I’m guilty of skimming to much but I have not seen anybody on team loss of life.

There are quite a few people on here saying no deal knowing what the ramifications of that are. The ramifications of that aren’t sunshine and rainbows. It’s massive homelessness and loss of life. And again, that’s an unnecessary outcome based on ‘not caving’ against people who do not care how many die.

What if caving causes more loss of life?

You are actively on team help the admitted GOP murderous psychopaths trick people for a few months before slaughtering them for the next four years, at a minimum.

And you don’t even think it is okay to make the psychopaths pretend like they give a shit for these few months, just give our seal of approval to whatever shit stew they offer up.

Get the hell out of here with your sanctimonious bullshit.

But what if it doesn’t? And again, that’s not the debate here. The debate is whether doing nothing right now is okay. I do not in any way think it is.

The idea of the trolley problem is that it’s a necessary compromise. This isn’t a trolley problem but is very much in the process of trying to create one. Again, this is not necessary.

rofl, no that’s not remotely what I’m doing.

If zero money comes in and the GOP wins because of that then we never had a chance anyway.

It absolutely is the debate here.

Then we’re not in the same debate. This is the debate I’m in:

If money comes and the GOP wins, we also never had a chance.

If money comes and we win, then who knows what will happen?

So if doing nothing now leads to less loss of life vs caving and doing a 1/8 measure now you are still ok with it?

Nobody is for “doing nothing”. The House of Representatives passed a bill 3 months ago.

Who the fuck is going to hold Barr to account? What exactly is accomplished when somebody is impeached by the house an acquitted by the senate? How does that change ANYTHING about what Barr is doing,m
