Yeah, it really really really sucks for those on unemployment. I’d suggest to them that they look into all of the state programs aside from Unemployment that can help them now. Their states’ Medicare, their states food stamp program, etc. California is doing ebt food cards for students that were eligible for reduced lunch.
Most of us who are about to be turbo fucked by the unemployment snafu have never had to look into state sponsored programs, but this is exactly why they exist. A lot of people will stay away because they see it as a weakness. It isnt weak to search for help when you’ve been royally fucked by your own country.

When you factor in how terribly the pandemic was handled and now how terribly everything else is being handled it is impossible to not feel really bad for those directly and severely negatively affected. I guess if you voted for Trump you might deserve it some but the rest of the people getting killed, permanent Covid damage, financial ruin or some combination of those things are just collateral damage to Trumpism and got here through no fault of their own. It is isn’t fair and I don’t know what any of us can even do about it now other than vote in November and try and encourage everyone we can to vote.
The people to blame are the Trump voters and supporters and Trump himself. My only hope is they are all permanently ostracized from polite society and we move on after this (paging the narrator).
