Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

If the GOP doesn’t want a deal, they have no fear of losing in November.

GOP doesn’t want a deal because they don’t want to help poor people.

Their values don’t align with what would be in the deal.

They should fear electoral repercussions, though. Unless they’ve got that taken care of…

That said, unemployment is higher in cities and liberal areas.

Why do you assume them doing nothing means it’s a lost cause for the election? You should also assume if they know they’re going to lose they will also try to drive the country off a cliff with them. It’s a death cult.

They should fear it, but they won’t win going against Trump so they have to go down with the ship.

FYP.

That’s fair.

The coverage of this is a new low for journalism. Not a single article I’ve seen mentions that the stated source of money will last less than two weeks. And every single article including the big three just says “Trump bypasses Congress” with no further discussion of the separation of powers.

The media in this fucking country, man.

NBC News had an article that said no one really wanted a deal. I didn’t read the byline and then thought about it. I said, ‘I bet that Jonathan Allen clown wrote that’. Checked the byline, and boom…Jonathan Allen.

Article for completeness:

I still don’t think I’ve seen a single member of Congress say this is a separation of powers issue. That’s disturbing.

The American people don’t know what a separation of powers issue is.

Just tell them the Hepa filter is stuck in the sucking thing and it’s not supposed to be there.

The payroll taxes are paid by employers not employees. Employees pay half so companies take that out of the paychecks.

Because this is a delay and not a reduction in tax, companies will still have to hold on to all of that money as they’ll owe it next year.

Thus 0 increase in paychecks for employees so 0 benefit.

At least no surprise taxes for employees, but small business owners may be in for a surprise if they don’t hold onto the money.

The media is on a cycle

Today it’s about the order signed
Over the next few days we’ll hear more and more about how this can’t be enacted.

It can’t be through UI payments since no federal law for this so they’ll have to setup brand new systems in states to do this.

And then many states already spent the money so can’t afford the $100 for their 25%

And then it’s only enough for 15M people anyway.

We will hear these things over the course of days as the media likes to draw it out, acting like there is new info each day when really it’s all known today.

Trump reelection odds at highest point in months after this. Genius Americans. Market will also no doubt explode at this news.

So how long until people start seeing the $400 from Trumps EO? I’m talking best case scenario.

Are Republicans not going to bother negotiating now?

As of right now, the answer is never. Until its revealed where the money is coming from, the answer will continue to be never.

It would be months best case scenario.

If he’s allowed to spend money without congress then:

  • it is still just 44B so not enough for one payment to all unemployed.

  • states have to pony up $100 in order to get the $300

  • states have to setup a whole new system for this as it can’t run through their unemployment systems
