Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

Just a huge LOL at the “We should have caved” brigade. We’ve been caving for years, look where it’s gotten us.

I think letting it burn is the best outcome here but the optics here are much worse for the Dems than it needed to be. Literally caving and still getting told to fuck off is just incredible. You literally could not be worse at politics than Chuck and Nancy.

Dude Nancy caved so what is your point? She did exactly what most of us predicted and got brutally outmanuevered. This should have been a slam dunk win for the Dems.

It isn’t like she stuck to her guns on 3.4T. She did interviews yesterday saying 3.4T or nothing and then went hat in hand begging to the WH for 2T a day later. And still didn’t get a deal. It is impossible to do worse.

If Trump just hands out $400 on his own and that’s a win for him, the only reason not to cavea week ago was to avoid the liability shield.

They’re REALLY good at their jobs man. No joke.

Just remember who they’re working for.

No, she didnt.

The Democrats’ strategy will work, but they have to let the GOP trip over it’s own dick.

She didn’t what? Cave? Yes she did.

I want to believe, but aren’t they going to be put in several spots now where they look like the bad guys?

If she caved, they would have an agreement with Mitch.

Do you really think people are going to vote GOP with where the economy will be in November without government intervention?

Mitch wasn’t part of the negotiations. Try to keep up.

Stop thinking optics and start thinking outcomes. No persuadable voter is paying attention to the political maneuvering.

The end result of all this bullshit is likely to be zero money for tens of millions of broke, unemployed Americans who are going to blame Donald Trump. But Democrats have to let it play out.

Avoiding the liability shield is important. But like if you sent me, WichitaDM, Riverman, boredsocial and chupacabre in to strategize and negotiate, we’d have done waaaaay better than this.

  1. We passed a bill, you didn’t. See us when you can pass something, or let ours come to a vote.

  2. Pass it again and again.

No deal was always better than some 200/month + liability shield so in that sense we avoided the worst outcome by quite a bit I would say. There is also a chance Trump trying to go full dictator will fail spectacularly.

I would have preferred the “we passed a good bill so we’re going on a recess and leaving town and the only way that anything gets done is if you agree to our bill” as the negotiating strategy. This would be the “throw the steering wheel out the window in a game of chicken” strategy that Sklansky is so fond of.

How do you parallel park without a steering wheel?

They lose that messaging war and it’s not even close.

I do like the idea of the POTUS creating a new welfare program wholecloth.
