Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

Matt’s analysis says more than a book on the topic.

It’s not that people are never unemployed through no fault of their own. It’s that you gotta leave them to fend for themselves or they won’t have the motivation to get a new job.

“We will decide what to do then notify Democrats what they’ll be voting for.”

Dammit the house just needs to pass a clean bill extending the current PUA and a new $1200 under the same rules.

Nothing else in it.

Dare McTurlte to sit on it. Got Bloomy to fund wall to wall commercials.

Kids just die at low rates and they still spread it. Oh and some get a weird syndrome. Oh and we don’t know about long term effects. But yeah mostly they are disease vectors.

I concur, I just picked the prior number.

My plan is to give everyone a big number like 6k per adult and 2k per kid and make it taxable with its own schedule such that at some point it’s just an advance and 80 or 100% is owed back.

Low earners and the newly unemployed keep all or most. High earners keep none or little.

Then you can keep the unemployment office out of the 600 and if you graduate it properly there is non theoretical incentive not to work (yes which is bullshit)

I’m just pissed that people continually fall for this shit and give it credence by even discussing any of these “stimulus plans”. None of the talk about stimulus has anything to do with actually helping anyone. It’s just figuring out how much money can be pilfered by the rich and how little they can give to people in need to hide it.

Yup. That’s why you hand out an amount that is BFD for those on the low end. It won’t be used for Roth conversions and investment. It will 100% be of value for them and go back into circulation getting the magic multiplier they always promise on the way down but never deliver.

If the top people are so damn smart they’ll end up getting that wealth accumulated via trickle up. Just nice if the bottom got the first use in the laundry cycle instead of the last or none.

I haven’t seen an unemployment payment in 6 weeks now. They’ve flagged a ton of cases as fraud. I submitted the info they asked for and was told it was corrected. I’m sure they’ll fix it by the end of the year.

Trickle down economics is the movie The Platform with all the rich people above level 0.

I’m more optimistic than you all about Democrats getting a decent deal here.

I’m confident there will be an extension of PUA (might not be the full $600). I’m not confident they will get it done without there being a multi-week gap at the absolute worst possible time.

Seems to be quite a few churches as well. Sigh.

I think $0-300 on average is what will happen. Trending more towards $0. Fox News/AM Radio has been hammering how unfair it is and how it is inflating unemployment literally since it passed. No chance Mitch meaningfully extends it. Why would he? More Trump bucks is close to a lock though.

Wait until the landlord class goes from getting 75% to 25% of their rent payments for August.

No one’s talking about it, but I think PUA disincentivizes large companies from bringing back furloughed employees. I can’t remember for sure but I don’t think companies are much on the hook like would usually happen with unemployment.

Something like 0.1% of kids do die of it. If 50% of a school gets it, 1 out of every 2,000 students will die. It’s got as bad was for grown ups obviously, but it’s not 0.

The best part is that I’m getting the sense that very few of them have any clue what’s coming. Like it’s unreal how detached they are from reality.

That’s the thing people aren’t getting. The percentages are extremely low, but if everyone goes to back to school, the absolute number of kids who will die will be sickening.

It doesn’t seem like there is a big hurry to get anything passed. Which is and of itself is a tell that extra $600 won’t be in the bill. Stopping and restarting the payment a couple weeks later likely just makes it an even bigger clusterfuck than the system already is and I assume the key players know that.
