I can agree with this. It wasn’t well thought out and I mashed it out off the top of my head without connecting my other concerns about the effect of a few big social media platforms are having on public discourse on a whole range of topics

But it’s just baffling that you’re going so hard in the paint for this “free speech” issue. We have free speech. Dawkins put out a shitty tweet and suffered some consequences. That’s it. No one is being silenced.

The first and last part of this comment are inconsistent. You aren’t really thinking for yourself if you don’t take time to research things. This is a huge gap in your approach to consuming info.
Secondly, you seem to have a blind spot for where your info is coming from. You’ve convinced yourself you are a consumer of left wing commentary but you also “hear news” that is right wing gobbledygook. You’re not being honest with yourself.

Definitely this, but also you get evaluated here for the battles you fight, not the things you profess to support. If you’re only getting into protracted arguments in defense of right wing gobbledygook, you’re pretty much a right winger, even if you say you also support gay marriage or whatever.

Yeah, this is the point I was trying to make (though I did it poorly).
I don’t remember Cactus posting a whole lot in the voting access thread or the police threads or whatever.
I remember his posting for 3 things.
- Pretty out there views on guns
- A really dumb decision to go to a gym unmasked during COVID
- This clusterfuck
And he’s gone super hard in the paint for all of them. So hard I think that they’ve all generated their own threads. So, yeah, not a great look.

Yes but he’s only 24 and many people who did far worse things in their twenties than posting bad opinions on an irrelevant internet forum have become reformed liberals, including people here.
You were pretty much legally justified to run over protestors in those states beforehand. It’s just more solidified now.
