Also another interesting thing we might consider is dividing TV up into the before and after OZ/SFU/Sopranos.

Very very few shows from the mid 90s and before hold up well at all. Some are legit terrible to the point you wonder how they ever became popular in the first place. I’ve basically got:

Cheers
Columbo
Twin Peaks
Twilight Zone

As the few that actually hold up off the top of my head. Rewatching stuff like Seinfeld or MASH is legitimately painful. The only reason people do it is for sentimental reasons. They aren’t good TV by modern standards. If we are voting in the “GOAT TV series” including sentimental favorites is a mistake. It will turn into the same horror show the “Best TV theme song” bracket turned into.
