If GOT would have been animated, 20 good seasons would have been done, easily.
The cliff notes that were animated were amazing.

I wonder if that will be the next iteration of GoT. We already got some pretty good comics/graphic novels. And now HBO is revisiting Watchmen as a series of animated films.
Simpsons changed the culture of this country. It’s easy to take for granted now, but irony and making fun of ourselves was not remotely the same before The Simpsons came along.

okay and me too BUT if we’re comparing each SERIES, the series as a whole, game of thrones wins. because if you told me i had to watch one RANDOM episode of game of thrones or one RANDOM episode of the simpsons, there’s about an 80% chance of me being miserable watching a terrible episode of what was once a fun and great cartoon, versus like a 95% chance of watching a top tier hour of prestige tv from the golden age of prestige tv

I don’t think that any of the cable prestige dramas can reasonably be considered the best TV show. A pure TV show shouldn’t be something you need to “binge” - ideally TV episodes should be self contained. True TV has fidelity to its broadcast origins and in its purest expression, TV episodes should have the same setting and characters each week and be self contained stories such that you don’t really care if you miss an episode or two and cant see them again until the summer reruns. The Simpsons is the only show left in you list I could make a reasonable claim for. I really really like Deadwood but it is more akin to three miniseries and a move of varying qualities. Cant be the best imo.

I can only vote on the Simpson’s/GOT matchup as those are the only shows I’ve seen enough to make a choice. Fuck Mr. Martin right in the ear for making me read 200 pages of shit about characters I hate before the 10 pages of characters I like being killed. Granted, that may be more based on the books than the series, but the only thing I thought the series brought over the books was boobs, and there is much better cosplay porn on the internet without so much talk talk talk.
That’s so 80s.

It’s been several years since I caught a new ep of Simpsons. But I listened to a recent ep of Harry Shearer’s Le Show podcast, and his age really came through in his voice. I’ve been wondering if it’s also apparent in those characters he voices
theoretically couldn’t they just use AI at this point?
