That sounds good. But Siracha was also talking about raising some $$. I can contribute to that as well.

Iā€™ve heard your accent. I donā€™t think you qualify.

If you need a white looking latino dude for VP, Im your man

Ya as is common, I was getting ahead of myself. Thx Microbet for grounding me with a few baby steps before we start running.

When I close my eyes and imagine how Iā€™d like to contribute, it would be a 1x-2x monthly meet up where we cook, package, and distribute food. Thereā€™s a lot of logistical headaches contained within that ($ included), so letā€™s start by putting our heads together while we participate in another charity.

Starting to feel really guilty about living in lol Portland and how even if I try to stand in the way of something in Alabama or Virginia, the police release the ID locations of people arrested at stuff like that and it can do pretty serious harm for them to be able to say n individuals were agitators from shithole Portland

Iā€™m sure you are aware but there are for-sale services out there that scummy data brokers sell exclusively to cops that can granularly track location info of pretty much anyone they please in most cities in the country. Itā€™s surprising how many people dont know this which is the only reason I am making this post.

Total aside: my son was canvassing for the dems in Vancouver WA after the ballot boxes were burned. He spent a few hours in Portland and is convinced that the ā€œPortland is an apocalyptic hellholeā€ story is concocted to keep people from discovering how awesome it is. He loved it.

Good. Itā€™s a wonderland. When eastern WA becomes Greater Idaho we will welcome him to PSU with open arms

I know someone who is about to wake up blindfolded on some island to get hunted for sport.

This is is such a backend dudeā€™s version of a landing page

I didnt mean any offense sorry just looks like stuff I make

Portland is great. If it wasnā€™t gray and rainy all the time, everyone would live there. Same for Seattle and Vancouver.

So, I have another idea that might dovetail with two other ideas I haveā€¦but the part for this thread would be repairing vehicles for people who live in their vehicles. This is a big problem for people as they get stuck, get tickets, get towed and end up on the street. It would not just be raising money for people to get their cars fixed, it would be doing the fixing.

So yesterday I was thinking about the above. I happened to have a solar panel that has been sitting in my garage for like 6 years for sale on Facebook marketplace. I had had it for $45, but today I lowered it to $15. I got a message from someone who needed it delivered, I said $30 if delivered, he said he couldnā€™t do that and needed it for his van which couldnā€™t start and he had to charge stuffā€¦etc.

So, I said ok and delivered for $15, which he paid and didnā€™t try to get me down further or anything. Anyway, he drove here from Massachusetts and is now stuck on a street behind a grocery store in a 2006 Econoline 250 van with a very nice dog and a cat which I didnā€™t meet. The van almost wants to turn over. Heā€™s tried a few things which make sense (new fuel pump and a couple sensors), but has run out of money for repairs. If he can sell his van for enough to get in shared housing he will do that, but not easy as he canā€™t get much money for a non-driving van and finding a place that allows a dog is not easy either. Heā€™s applied for work at the grocery store and is waiting. His normal ā€œcareerā€ is bartending, but he canā€™t do that and leave the dog in the van for that long at a stretch.

I would like to help him, but I canā€™t really afford to be spending money fixing other peopleā€™s cars atm.

That could be a tough. I remember pulling up on a stalled 80s mercury cougar or something with the mom and her son outside of the car with the car blocking traffic. She said her car was leaking battery acid and found out it was leaking coolant form her lower radiator hose. I pushed her car with my 90s ford ranger 8 was driving and I notced the hose looked easily reachable so offered to get a replacement and install it. We agreed on 20 bucks which was fine because 8 thought i was going to get it done in less tham an hour but it ended up taking like 4 hours for not having the right tools and the parts store not having them in stock. It felt rewarding but all car repairs can end up being a hassle.

So youā€™re in?

@LFS, @microbet, I RSVPā€™d for Sunday, but they havenā€™t replied. I figure most people just kinda show up and get put to work. My wifeā€™s coming along too.

Yeah, as you might expect itā€™s a pretty loose crew.

Depending on what else is happening this weekend I may bring my 16 year old.

I sent an email and also got no response. I think it will just be me. I have only ever just shown up.
