You should explain in detail what you meant then!

I am very dumb and a notorious non-reader, can you explain the compliment?

For added context I’ll include the quote from that post:

The phrase ā€œit makes sense that you work for Orange Theoryā€ can be seen as a compliment for several reasons:

  1. Association with Fitness: Orange Theory is known for its high-energy fitness classes that emphasize health and wellness. Being associated with such a brand suggests that the person values fitness and is likely to lead a healthy lifestyle.

  2. Passion and Dedication: Working for a fitness brand like Orange Theory often requires passion for health and a commitment to helping others achieve their fitness goals. This suggests that the individual is dedicated and motivated, qualities that are admirable.

  3. Positive Energy: The atmosphere in Orange Theory classes is typically upbeat and encouraging. This compliment may imply that the person embodies a similar positive energy, making them enjoyable to be around.

  4. Expertise: If someone works for a reputable fitness company, it suggests they have knowledge and expertise in fitness, training, or health-related fields. This can be seen as a mark of respect for their skills and capabilities.

Overall, the compliment indicates that the person’s traits align with the values and image of Orange Theory, reflecting well on their character and lifestyle.

The phrase ā€œit makes sense that you work for Orange Theoryā€ could be interpreted as an insult for several reasons:

  1. Stereotyping: It might imply that the person fits a stereotype associated with Orange Theory or its clientele, such as being overly fitness-focused or obsessed with trends, which can come off as superficial.

  2. Lack of Depth: The comment could suggest that the individual is one-dimensional, implying that their identity or worth is primarily tied to their job in fitness rather than their broader interests or qualities.

  3. Mocking Enthusiasm: If the remark is delivered sarcastically, it could be a way to mock the person’s enthusiasm for fitness or the brand, suggesting that their passion is excessive or misguided.

  4. Implying Incompetence: It might suggest that the person is not suited for more serious or varied careers, implying that working in a fitness franchise is a lesser or trivial occupation.

  5. Judgment of Lifestyle: The comment could reflect a judgment on the person’s lifestyle choices, suggesting that they prioritize fitness over more meaningful pursuits, which can be seen as condescending.

In this context, the remark could be viewed as a subtle dig rather than a genuine compliment, depending on the tone and relationship between the individuals involved.

5-4. It’s an insult. Sorry thicc cut

When you are an asshole in every thread and every post.

When you make a post, people assume it’s an insult.

1 day self ban please

now i aint no conspiracy theorist but there’s more than 1 common denominator here :face_with_monocle: first two are SPE.

ban log says ā€œthreat.ā€ I didn’t see any threats. sounds like classic ikes to me. troll and post high volume bad faith takes, bait someone into acting out, then go cry to mods who play along. wichita is a good poster. ikes is not. not only is he not, he has no desire to be (at least here). it isn’t more complicated than that.

SPE is a shitty website with shitty operators ikes, not sure you being a completely insufferable shitwad here is going to drive traffic to your little project, regardless of the mod friends you have here.

remember the time ikes was saying posting ā€œikesā€ here was doxxing him even though at the same time he maintained an active twitter handle literally named ikes tied to the same exact 22 user? pepperidge farm remembers

Usually the mods delete post so it’s hard to know what caused someone to be banned.

But lol at thinking banning someone from this website would stop them from carrying out a threat they made in real life.

Wichita was going to report Ike’s (they probably would give him a medal for his racist takes) but since potato banned him from unstuck he is thinking twice about it.

As someone who has faced a bullshit state board complaint filed by my then soon-to-be ex-wife, I have zero sympathy for someone who allegedly has frequently threated to file one against another professional for issues unrelated to the professional’s work.

FWIW, if Wichita were to ever do something this malicious, I’m sure that his his own state bar association’s ethic’s board would be happy to investigate CN’s harassment complaint against Wichita, especially given the special circumstances in Wichita’s own life.

Sure, my point is banning him from this obscure website wouldn’t deter him from reporting Ike’s.

i saw the first one, it wasn’t a threat. threat is this:

ā€œI am going to report you to the state medical board.ā€

non threat:

ā€œIf the state medical board read some of your more reprehensible posts on mental illness you wouldnt have a jobā€

is a statement. does it belong in a discussion and do I want to read it? no. but please let’s not pretend ikes is actually feeling threatened here, and it seems entirely disingenuous to pretend there isn’t a significant body of work preceding this. It’s the same pattern he’s done elsewhere, he’s not the only one so I’m sure he feels justified doing it, but this gaming of deeply personal attacks and aggressively flagging responses to it, knowing he has the other party worked up, is definitely behavior under the category of what I’d define as ā€œmentally illā€ if not simply obnoxious.

best to just not respond to any post he makes but people seem incapable of it

sorry if im misunderstading but what are talking about? the ā€˜too combative’ wording? it’s a preset option when you ban someone (you get to choose from like 5 pre written reasons).

fwiw i didnt issue the ban and perhaps i’m misunderstanding the conspiracy here.

This is inappropriate and unnecessary. I appreciate the support, but don’t think UP as a community should allow this type of thing as it discourages people from participating, worsens discussion and makes it easier for conflicts to escalate.

@jmakin the talk about ā€˜is this actually a threat?’ is transparent dishonest nonsense, but let’s take it seriously for just a minute. Posters shouldn’t imply, lightly threaten or really even hint at filing board complaints because they disagreed with someone here. Doxxing threats shouldn’t be tolerated. Do you disagree?

WDM also did far more than threaten reporting me to the medical board. He accused me of abusing my wife and child and made fun of my disability, amongst many other insults. Are you ok with that here? Seems like the answer should be no to me.
