The point of my initial post was to repost my original take on the CoC stuff.
Feeling no responsibility to interject, but doing some community modding…
Marty…Witchita wants to apologize and feels bad about the conflict. Might not be perfect, but anyway, I accept it and think/hope if any differences I have with him come up again that I can discuss it thoughtfully, peacefully, in good faith, and perhaps even productively.

Alright, we don’t need to litigate this, I just don’t remember seeing anybody say we want a new sub but our condition is 99% community approval, or no approval at all it just happens, or it’s not happening.
I wouldn’t want it to be the case that the next time whatever this place is now is accused of being authoritarian that it is lost that an anti-authoritarian proposal was on the way to being passed by 2/3rds and not followed through with.
I think you are misunderstanding my purpose with these posts. I’m not trying to relitigste what each person did wrong. My point was I went from rational to foaming at the mouth angry within about 10 posts and it was interesting to see what happened in hindsight. It doesn’t excuse the way I acted but I myself was surprised when I went back and re-read it that I actually started out calm.
And no I’m not begging for apologies. I could care less if I ever get one. I’m saying we would all be better off with some introspection about our roles in this. That’s it.

@WichitaDM I appreciate your apology. I was also salty with you a couple times. Sorry about that. I felt you were unfairly lumping me in with some nebulous “them” even though we had never actually crossed paths here much at all. I was seriously like, “what the heck?” when I opened the thread to invite the entire forum to a PM chat and you called me a man-baby and other names for a few days.

The last line of this post is something that’s obviously going to catch a ban. Maybe if you edit it, the mods will be lenient.
It’s all good and I appreciate that. I can understand why you would feel that way. Hopefully there are no lasting hard feelings. There are none on my end at this point towards anyone.
And yes I acted poorly probably most of all to you and i regret that and apologize.

Ok but that’s a minor point (he personally calls out other people besides RM too). I’m more talking about how he views this whole forum as bootlicker right-wingers and is not afraid to repeat it, nor does he get banned for it.
If that’s the type of standard you want to set for the community, I’m down I suppose. However, it’s hard for me to take it seriously though as the time I earnestly PMd you about your posts you told me to fuck off. Hell you called me deplorable how many times just up thread?
If y’all want to make the next nidus of drama me after everything else, it’s going to be ignored by me.

Right, no one said that. The frothing resentment and biased moderation was the nail in the coffin for me. The vote is just like a formal representation of the attitude that makes the sub impossible.

Victor can be abusive yes. I don’t believe I’ve ever objected to any of his temp bans and as long as they’re within reason and not absurdly long I probably won’t.

I didn’t call you a deplorable. Intentionally. I selectively defended Keeed, yes, and i acknowledged that you were widely considered deplorable (which is true) but I didn’t call you one. On purpose!
It is the standard I want and it’s the standard I get when chatting with lots of people, even when they disagree, everywhere but here, and that includes 2p2 for the most part.

Going to answer this part too. First there was an argument happening. Second, I think sending a PM to anyone at all unsolicited is a personal invasion unless you have some reason to think it will be received well. Third, your words may have passed some politeness test, but you were telling me to shut up in a very dismissive and condescending way. Under those circumstances I absolutely stand by my response, including the “and never PM me again” part.

This whole interaction reminds me of a scene from Rounders. I’m out here asking Grama for a little grace and Worm just won’t listen to me when I tell him to stfu.
I’m gonna both sides a little here, but please stop trying to provoke each other and please cut the name calling and insults for a few weeks while we get some new things in place. I gotta tell you all, under any poster guidelines we setup for community moderation, the namecalling and insults have got to go. And if I do end up serving as a mod in the future, I’m gonna hand out temp bans like crazy on that stuff until we’re done with that part as a forum.

No. That was incidental. I looked up the thread and that was a screenshot from a post otatop made.
But, it is true that my bans handed out to each of them, all less than 24 hrs, all as fairly and quickly as I could do in my best efforts, were a catalyst for CW leaving. That was part of the point that otatop was making there when he pointed at CW.
