Reminds me of how people like Trolly relentlessly bullied skankthebadwookie on 2p2 who clearly had some kind of language impairment and justified it by saying he was trolling.
And here, now, the dogpiling down punchers pretend they are victims.

I have no idea what youâre talking about on 2p2, but can you articulate who the dogpiling downpunchers are? And who the victims are?
There are a lot of down punchers, people who are just dismissive about anyone who is a little different, but Trolly and riverman are probably the worst cases.
Iâm not going to list victims because I donât want to point at people who are fragile. Iâm obviously implying Sabo and 6ix in context, but Iâm not afraid to mention them because they are both extremely smart and self-confident. But they come across as different and are not always easy to deal with and people are quite unforgiving about that.
One other case I will mention is spaceman Bryce, because I donât think he would be afraid to admit that he is fragile, but him being bullied on the site, worst of all by riverman (at the time probably the most popular poster) is the most egregious example.
Ok then, sounds like the conversation is over
Anyone can go look at the Mod Log thread linked earlier to see what kind of antics these âniceâ people were up to, but just on the face of it, actual nice people like just to give an example Dan Spartan, when they felt no longer welcome here, moved to a new community and never looked back. They certainly didnât stick around to harass the old community for no reason. Big difference.
Youâre aware that Sabo and 6ix have like a decade of history with us before this site was created, right? We know exactly who they are.
@claude can I get a summary of the last 400 posts plz
You think you do. There is certainly a consensus among a lot of people here, and I had previously bought into that. Iâm saying that I was wrong, and that consensus is wrong.
It doesnât have to be, I was just trying to jump ahead guessing where you were going with that line of questioning.
Assuming that you think theyâre partially to blame for the reaction to their posting style, what do you think the remedy is? Bully them and pile on and ban them?
Some of us determine right and wrong based on what people say and do, rather than slotting them into predetermined oppressor/victim categories and basing all of the evaluation of their actions off that.
Well I personally have had many arguments (some of which I enjoyed) with both of them. I also never asked or desired for them to be permabanned. But they are definitely huge trolls and instigators.
Predetermined? At what point does âpredeterminedâ become âdeterminedâ? Did micro decide on victim vs oppressor characterization based on their user names or something? Do you think he is incapable of evaluating actions too?
Lol dude

I guess thatâs the point weâre making. They are not trolls and instigators. That doesnât mean theyâve never trolled or instigated, just that they are also thoughtful posters who make good points but have generally been treated more poorly than they deserve by people who would rather shut them down than engage with their ideas.
OK then, sounds like the conversation is over ![]()
Gosh who could have guessed that when you put a bunch of words in my mouth
Look guys, do they troll and instigate a lot? Sure. But have you considered that people were mean to them after they trolled and instigated?
Have you considered that people were mean to them before they trolled and instigated? This is the same point weâve been making about the whole creation of the âcaptainsâ mythology, you all keep pretending that these people were just born assholes and werenât reacting to the way they were treated by a community that they thought they were equal members of.
The non-ban remedy is for one of their friends to tell them to stop being an asshole and for them to listen. Maybe you can ask why Micro was easily able to accomplish that with Clovis the other day, but has never been able to do that with anyone in the nmnm group.
The conversation explores the balance between community trust and formal moderation. Members discuss the specific role of PVN, debating whether certain individuals should have more leeway in titled content due to their established status.
A significant portion of the dialogue focuses on the impact of âdirty wordsâ or provocative phrasing on the forumâs professional image versus its commitment to free expression. While some argue for strict stylistic consistency to maintain decorum, others advocate for a decentralized approach where trusted users self-regulate. These posts highlight a broader effort to define the communityâs unique identity and the level of oversight required to sustain it.
