Trolling? You think that’s not my genuine opinion in that thread?
I don’t think you were furious. I think you were annoyed. And an annoyed moderator literally in the middle of an argument shouldn’t be locking the thread the discussion was in.

Why argue over something that is unfalsifiable? The thread ran its course let it go.
I don’t think you’re 100% trolling, and don’t take this the wrong way because I am a fan, but as an observer over the years I think when you realize you are maybe outnumbered in an argument you will double down into the position and this looks trolly.
I don’t personally understand your position in that thread or why it’s a discussion that even needs to be had, and I understand wookie locking it, but I voted for it to remain open because ultimately I don’t care.
Just my 2c.
The thread has not run its course. There is still plenty of time for Trump to do something that everyone but Keeed interprets as an attempt to seize power.
You can believe what you said, and it can still be trolling, in the sense that a Seahawks fan going to a Niners forum and posting sincerely held beliefs can still be trolling. Knowingly provoking a negative reaction from a ton of posters by insisting on holding an unpopular belief or definition that you may sincerely hold can most definitely be trolling, and the fact that you insist on getting to do more of this when literally nothing more than that has come of that thread sure looks like trolling to me.
As far as mods not modding in threads where they are participants, I think that’s a poor standard, as mods generally don’t mod in threads where they aren’t participating and lack context. Many threads have near universal mod participation.
I think enjoys the thrill of trolling and “it’s not trolling if you believe it” so he gets in the mindset of being sincereish about trollish positions to get the excitement of trolling with plausible deniability. It’s like a sports jock host in harmless forms and Fox News personalities in malevolent forms.
I mean, I guess we can keep the thread open to talk about why he is the way he is. All that’s really left at this point.
I guess I can understand that but I think it’s because I actually enjoy when my genuine opinion is in the extreme minority and people argue with me. While a normal person kind of doesn’t like that and maybe finds it uncomfortable, says, OK I don’t like that so I’m going to shut the fuck up about this. I like arguing with people, especially about politics, I know not everyone is like that.
I mean I was trying to convince people that it wasn’t an important distinction, and certainly not a knowable question.
no way, my boy @simplicitus would never abandon me.
This is fucking horseshit. Only sufficiently popular takes allowed! What kind of discussion forum is that? “Insisting on holding an unpopular belief”? More like not shutting the fuck up when Mr. Wookie is annoyed.
Did anyone else flag any posts as problematic or ask for moderation or for the thread to be closed? It’s one thing to act on someone else’s complaint and another to abruptly end the discussion that you were literally moments ago yourself participating in.
It shouldn’t have happened though. I don’t think any of the other mods would close a thread without a good reason - it’s always this one trying to assert his “authority” inappropriately.
I get that he’s been a 2+2 mod forever and a day and that old habits die hard, but really…if a mod is incapable of adapting to these forum rules then s/he’s no use as a mod.
And I also get that it requires a Senate style vote to demod someone, which won’t happen.
Geez dude. Just start a poll to demod me. Going through every thread and whining is no way to do it.
It shouldn’t ever come to that.
Please can you just mod better, in line with the rules and spirit of the forum like the other mods, so we don’t have to waste collective hours in the Moderation thread to get invalid mod actions reversed?
You called me a megalomaniac, bro. If you believe half the words you say about my moderation and my character, you would think that I would refuse to step down even in light of a vote.
I do believe you’d refuse to step down voluntarily if you knew you were in breach of forum rules/spirit, but not in light of a vote against you because you’d just be removed as a mod against your will anyway.
Then start the damn poll. I’ve had it with your character assassination.
You can always lock this thread I guess instead of just walking away.
Seconded. Jal, you’re trolling. I know you’re not the only one trolling, but you are trolling. And, assuming there’s something more than trolling to it, it’s counterproductive.
lol what?
I started a conversation in this (Moderation) thread to complain about it. Is that wrong?
Then a parallel conversation had already developed in the thread that he locked, which I joined, Is that wrong?
He wrongly locked a thread I (and others) had been enjoying reading for a while, for no good reason other than he didn’t like the conversation in it, and it’s taken several people several hours to persuade him to unlock it (with no apology, of course).
Do you think that’s good modding?
As I said, I just want him to improve how he mods this forum because he’s the only mod who’s this bad lol. I can see you’re keen to paint this is unilateral action on my part but others have also chimed in with their agreement, as you can see if you scroll up.
That’s all for now.
Sure. I’ll continue doing that. Maybe you can help by mentoring your fellow mod, then people won’t get so upset when their threads are closed for no good reason?
Thanks!
I think we need a new label.
Trolling for sincere harm.
Heartless for insincere harm.
So Wookie is just gonna be a mod forever? Is there a word for being in power forever?
While I don’t 100% agree with his post (in another thread), I wish to thank Microbet (via Zikzak, Goofy, et al.) for telling me about the neato J key functionality in thishere forum.
