About Moderation (old original thread)

Old joke, but I always enjoyed it.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

Bob Smith, my assistant programmer, can always be found
hard at work in his cubicle. Bob works independently, without
wasting company time talking to colleagues. Bob never
thinks twice about assisting fellow employees, and he always
finishes given assignments on time. Often Bob takes extended
measures to complete his work, sometimes skipping coffee
breaks. Bob is a dedicated individual who has absolutely no
vanity in spite of his high accomplishments and profound
knowledge in his field. I firmly believe that Bob can be
classed as a high-caliber employee, the type which cannot be
dispensed with. Consequently, I duly recommend that Bob be
promoted to executive management, and a proposal will be
sent away as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Project Leader

The following Memo was soon sent following “The Letter”

That stupid dolt was reading over my shoulder when I wrote the report sent to you earlier today. Kindly read every odd line for my true assessment of him.

Try to see the best in people instead of assuming the worst.

I was of course referring to your assumption that keeed is deflecting.

Those explanations aren’t inconsistent.

Not in the spirit of this thread but reminded me of this

And, of course, I was making that point last night as well.

I could cite several posts from a then mod telling people to “fuck off” and “fuck right off”, who wasn’t subject to any moderation at all, let alone RFCs to demod him.

By an extraordinary coincidence it happens to be the same ex-mod who has raised the RFC to demod keeed for…wait for it…unhiding a post.

Should I?

Pretty good. I never got much past A ROZA UPALA NA LAPU AZORA with palindromes, when I read Alice in Wonderland at the age of 6 in the original Russian

Although I don’t think the text in that video could really be described as a palindrome. Maybe a “semantic-antonymic” palindrome? I just made that up. (My original thought was “anti-semantic”, but boy, did that sound wrong).

You should not.

You seem to be suggesting that a mod abusing members of the community is a lesser breach of forum rules than…unhding a post. Is that right?

Now that team A has a mod representative team B is all about mod control. Who could have seen this one coming?!? :man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging:

It’s almost as if it’s 100% about tribalism.

U Don’t Say? Welcome to the resistance, Captain.

I’m hopeful that as more people realize that it’s not just one side causing all the problems, that perhaps we can make some progress.

Glad we’re straight on who’s the A team and who’s the B team, too.

Both teams are pathetic!

There are no heroes here.

Except for you. You are my hero, clovis8.

Recognizing that their are two teams is the first step toward actual reconciliation, if it’s even possible.

Yeah, but it’s a big ask, tantamount to asking one side to unilaterally disarm.
