About Andor, and lesser Star Wars things

Episode 10 is the best episode yet. A+

Yeah, this show is remarkably good. Oh, did you like the happy little rebellion with the funny robots and that kid with the big glow stick? Hereā€™s all the super dark shit behind the scenes that made it possible.

Showing up for my love of Andor. The bureaucratic political side of star wars is interesting and this show is really good at it. Even the beginning episodes that have more set building had enough narrative tricks to really elevate it.

But even then the first three episodes are one of the best world building in the Star Wars universe. In the latest trilogy the Empire or New Order or whatever are cartoonish villains who are forever building death stars and in the first three episodes the empire is exactly what youā€™d imagine a colonial empire would be. Brutal but also corrupt and lazy.

Good god this show is amazing. What an ep

This show is doing all the world building that made the 1st few seasons of Game of Thrones so great.

A new animated series of shorts ā€œTales of the Jediā€ was recently released. Worth the short time and effort.

Honestly I thought the first two eps of Andor didnā€™t live up to the hype but it gets really great after that.

It helps that heist movies are maybe my favorite genre so a Star Wars heist show is squarely in my wheelhouse.

Another great ep. Luthen escape scene was fantastic

Iā€™m not, but my favorite Luthen scene so far is in episode 10.

Yeah that was great

He has fucking light sabers coming out of his ship?!?

ā€œShall we cancel the boarding sir?ā€
ā€œNo, we can use the practiceā€
Luthen destroys the tractor beam array, takes out 4 tie fighters, and launches out into hyperspace
cut to dumbfounded looking imperial officer
Narrator: ā€œIt was at this moment, he knew, he fucked up.ā€

Question for Star Wars nerds:

How does an x-wing rate compared to a tie fighter in a heads up battle. Are they considered roughly equivalent, or is one supposed to be the superior vehicle.

Depends on your source somewhat. In the movies, both were pretty soft targets that would go down after a a hit or three, but the movies do mention that X-Wings have deflector shields that TIE fighters do not. In the video games X-Wing and TIE Fighter, which were developed by Lucas Arts and I think are still canon, X-Wings were quite a bit tougher than TIE fighters thanks to those shields. TIE fighters were a touch faster but not much. Iā€™m not sure if the animated stuff, which is considerable, might conflict this.

X-wing is like a dozen times better. TIEs are basically cheap and disposable and they overwhelm with superior numbers.

Andor is awesome. A+++ season finale.

tie fighters also have no internal atmosphere or whatever, which is why the pilots wear masks and suits and x-wing pilots do not

I remember reading a long time ago in something thatā€™s likely non-canon now that they were made cheaply and en masse. I believe a good tie fighter pilot would beat a x-wing pilot because ties are more maneuverable - see darth vader destroying everyone in his in ep4 for reference (i believe his type of tie fighter had deflector shields)

Donā€™t forget to watch the short end credits scene.

Best show on TV. Great Finale.

Great show, stuck the landing. Definitely the best SW thing Iā€™ve seen as an adult. By, like, a lot.
