First three entries for category 2 done. Including one that might be the most controversial pick yet. Five more to go.
Yeah that was a great reveal. I ended up not having time to sort through songs but I wouldāve given something from Kill Bill, I thinkā¦maybe itās just the soundtrack I love from that movie and not the score. Only CD that Iāve knowingly bought and lost, along with my Season 5 of the Wire.
Oh man, finished writeup for entry #5 and this song is a top contender. Last three better step up or I have already found our Walrus.
Two more writeups to go.
I can promise there will be rustling.
One more to go. I think we can look forward to reveals this evening/tonight.

CATEGORY 2
Best song in a movie (soundtrack)
8th place (1 point)
JohnnyTruant
Harold and Maude- āIf You Want to Sing Out Sing Outā Cat Stevens
Coming in a cool 8th place for 1 point is @JohnnyTruant
I wish I liked this song more, but I donāt. Ideally, Johnny and I would be side by side in a haze of smoke, jamming out to whatever we like and vibing whatever the other person is vibing. He might finally understand what makes MmmmBop a Top 20 track on any list.
The movie is directed by Hal Ashby, who is among the greatest directors of all time. His other film Being There is magnificent.
The track is written by Yusuf Islam (also known as Cat Stevens). Iāve never been a big Cat Stevens fan, and Iām curious to maybe PM Johnny about what he thinks of Yusufās comments on Salman Rushdie. Scandalous O_o
The song has endured over time. I really like this kids choir cover:
It was famously used in a T-Mobile commercial (2009):
That commercial did so well that they hired Wyclef Jean to make an upbeat remix for a second commercial a few months later:
Love you Johnny, but it appears we have very different taste in musicā¦so far! Category 3 might turn it all around for you.
7th place (2 points)
Rivaldo
Grease ā Sha Na Na ā Those Magic Changes
After a nearly perfect submission from the last Walrus category, @Rivaldo makes a huge stumble here. He comes in 7th place for 2 points.
Grease is an okay musical, and all of the songs from it are classics, but I donāt like the story, or the characters, and John Travolta is officially creepy (but you were great in The People vs OJ Simpson!). The song is not even as catchy as the other songs from the movie. I think you could have swept the Walrus with āYouāre the One that I Want,ā but you went with āThose Magic Changes.ā If only you were a magician, you could change your submission.
