We’re now over 3,300 global cases. It’s going to be pretty close to another 9 day doubling and we’re definitely running into testing capacity issues.

Nine days later, despite being in the midst of a holiday weekend in the US, we’re at 5,783 confirmed global cases and 459 confirmed US cases, with lots of evidence of missing cases - SF wastewater, anecdotal experiences of people who had to go to three to five different doctors to get tested, beg to get tested, etc.

Have a friend who works in the NYC area. They’re pretty sure they have a patient with monkeypox. They aren’t gay however, so the local health department won’t test them.

Yeah like monkeypox is very unlikely to be “the big one” but it’s just an immediate confirmation that we’re actively getting worse at this, not better. If we get the big one any time soon, just fire up the crematoriums cause we’re fucked.
