2025 NFL Gameday Thread: Super Bowl LX-Sam Darnold faces the Ghosts Like They Weren't Even There

NFL refs have a tough job and calling forward progress is one of the tougher calls. I feel like they mostly do a good jobs. You see more plays blown dead in college when the ball carrier is pushing and on the verge of escape. The Gibbs touchdown made the call easier to accept.

think he was a few inches short but doubt they overturn

Got a perfect view somehow he’s down

Seemed too close to overturn, but the Lions deserve it after last week.

It’s so rare you get such a perfect angle on a close 4th down like that. A run up the gut where the RB disappears into a pile? Yeah never getting overturned. But a midfield catch where you have a perfect view of the ball, knee, and distance to gain? Seems like they can overturn that even if it’s only a few inches.

People need to pump the brakes on Baker MVP talk.

Even if they score they’ve taken too much time

I just saw the Lions all backup defensive backfield referred to as the Legion of Whom and I really want to make that a thing somehow.

This loss isn’t on him but he’s definitely playing more like the inconsistent baker of years past.

buccs offensive line is just getting murdered. they are routinely losing the battle while also keeping the rb in to help.. just getting worked.

I haven’t seen him put a ball on target once tonight.

Alim McNeill is an elite DT coming off a torn ACL playing his first game in almost a year tonight and he has been a big part of the pressure. Detroit had a lot of bad injuries on defense last year but you can trace the season going off the rails to his torn ACL. I’m glad he’s back.

Theory: the more disheveled and frumpy your front office guys are, the better the roster

Crazy that the Lions rush got there when the other team can’t hold with impunity.

Flagged for dunking. Jump in a fucking lake Cheffers.

WRs with 2 last names are just built different.

So the second lions challenge, the one that didn’t make any sense.

Was that DC trying to maximize the length of the timeout?

i am on record as stating that coaches don’t use enough challenges and that Dan Campbell is elite at situational football and even I think that was just a mistake.

Maybe, but I don’t see how he even makes that mistake. They had Hutchinson off the field, and had to be gassed. A timeout probably would have been only a 30s timeout. Like did he think it was 4th down and they couldn’t advance a fumble?
