I learned on a John Deere 2955.
Stick shift is the default in Germany; People want to save the fuel, and want to “have control”. I first drove AT when I worked as a cabby for a bit and loved it. Got me a used Baby-Benz with AT at some point; best car I ever had.
modern automatic transmissions will always outperform manual human users
Granny gear, as mentioned by JimH, is the most legit use of a manual. I had a Dodge 2500 Cummins turbo diesel with a 5 speed and 1st was a granny gear which you only used for heavy loads, steep hills… But not normally.
I drove an alpha romeo stick and i miss it a lot. That yuv had dreams and aspirations.
I know zero about cars, but would some guy with an automatic transmission racecar have a huge advantage over the field with standard cars.
The only 2 race cars I know anything about personally (friend owns them both) is like a small F1 looking dedicated race car and a Porsche 911 turbo s. Both have paddle shifters on the steering wheel, no manual clutch. So maybe not that much of a difference?
I have had cars with paddle shifters but never used them. The car transmission will work automatically without them (tbh, not even sure why anyone would use them). I assume in the racecar you need to use them (i.e. the drivers use them because they are advantageous and you need them to have a shot at winning).
it’s cool to pretend to be a race car driver
No something definitely broke inside the door, there used to be a slight click you could hear when closing it and I don’t hear it since the issue started. The light could be part of that I don’t remember it’s been so long, or it could need a new appliance bulb
“oh don’t bother I’m talking to her now, here you go”, slides across desk
Heh my grandad had an old Ford like that, late 60s model. He would let my cousin and I take turns driving when we were out at his farm during the summer. It had no power steering lol it was like turning a damn elephant (I assume).
Man, Christians really are under attack in America.
we’re at Disneyland today and the Fantasyland theater has something going on called “Celebrate Gospel”.
Christians just can’t catch a break. Maybe Trump made it possible so Christians could celebrate at one of the busiest places in America.
Gospel is pretty bad-ass though. Assuming it wasn’t a bunch of white people.
The Hard Rock in Orlando has (or had probably) a Gospel show every Sunday that was amazing.
I just watched Blues Brothers for the first time in many years. I’m all fired up about the James Brown gospel scene.
Yeah but until the Wench Auction returns to Pirates of the Caribbean it’s still woke.
Oh, I agree that gospel can be the shit. It’s more the Christians can’t catch a break thing in Jesusland#1 when you can see gospel performed at fucking Disneyland.
Drove a manual Honda Civic my entire time in SoCal and really regretted not having gone auto from the beginning. Was fun at first but just became a pain in the ass as time went by. And my wife couldn’t drive it.
Finally getting the respect we deserve
It took Trump to turn Quebecers into patriotic Canadians.
