like name one case of a bill that got filibustered that somehow turned into a “discussion” that resulted in the bill getting passed? the filibuster does exactly the opposite of what he says and the evidence is overwhleming.

but again, that’s the opposite of what Manchin is claiming! It didn’t make the bill bipartisan! It’s not like the bill was dead without the filibuster, and thanks to the filibuster, a bunch of people put their heads together and made a bill that was better and hence now capable of passing.
Give me a case where it encouraged bipartisanship, and I can produce a bunch of cases of unfilibustered bills that actually had true bipartisan cooperation.
The fillbuster discourages bipartisanship, because it gives the minority a veto, and without it that minority has the option of trading support for a bone or two (because the majority LIKES being able to say “this was bipartisan”).

Remember when all the dems had to do to win was keep the election about abortion and not immigration? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Perhaps the threat of the filibuster is what is getting them to come together and reach across the aisle and make tough decisions like cutting taxes for the rich or refusing to pass gun safety legislation.

The tweets all starting with “recently went viral” and having the same picture makes it seem like a meme template. Kinda doubt the super brainy podcast described in those tweets would be as popular as Talk Tuah, although to be fair I haven’t listened.
