Somebody posted a tweet a while back about how pollsters used to count the assholes who said “I’m voting for Trump, fuck off” and hung up the phone as a “non-answer” to the whole poll, which obviously would be an issue. They’re now counting them as votes for Trump and just marking the rest of the questions as unanswered or something.
Not sure how much of a difference that would make, but they seemed to imply it wasn’t an insignificant number of people who did that.
Same dude, but abortion is pretty non-negotiable with the Catholic church so there’s no way he’s gonna say it’s cool to vote for Harris. Honestly just saying that she’s even a choice between evils is probably high praise.
I don’t follow Catholicism but I’d guess this noncommittal stance is progressive by historical pope standards. Do popes ever endorse candidates? I bet if asked, they usually condemn abortion and say something about other issues. Here it almost seems he is giving Catholics permission to vote for Kamala (because they’re both flawed).
Maybe Catholics can chime in regarding past elections
So I understand that the Catholic church is not in favor of abortion. But isn’t there kind of a leap from there to believing that it should be illegal? Is the Catholic church’s position that every nation should be a Catholic theocracy, and any candidate running on a platform short of that is some measure of “evil”?
Do they also believe that adultery and blasphemy should be illegal, for example?
