Wouldnât it be logical to conclude that there would be a spike in searches as the debate was ending? Hard to attribute that to Swift as there wouldâve been an increase there regardless.
There could be multiple factors and I donât really know how to identify them and determine their relative effects. Searches are going back down as the debate is coming to an end (~11:45 ET) so it looks like her endorsement had some effect. I guess it could be compared to what happened in the Biden-Trump debate but Google Trends doesnât give me that kind of time resolution in the archived data.
My uninformed inclination would be to give her the searches in the area above the overall trend. So highlighted region= Swifties.

Yea Ygelsiasâs prediction is going to be true. Trump and the right make very specific claims about pets in a specific town to stir up racial animosity. Then theyâre going to find some Haitian, at some point, somewhere, doesnât matter where, did some kind of animal sacrifice, and then spike the football that they were right all along.
