I’ve wondered where Activote came from since they’ve been publishing a ton of polls. This does seem like good cause to take their stuff with a grain of salt at most.

AfD making big gains in Germany and crowds chanting “Deport Deport”. I suppose many would suggest that Scholz should come down firmly for locking down the borders at this point.

I mean…I can’t claim that I’ve never gone for a handshake and discovered an attempted fist-bump. Not that I’m somehow wrapping my entire hand around their fist at that point or anything.

lol, i didn’t mention trmpkins, but it’s telling that your own thought process went there. you are also already aware of generational changes in the military pretty much all over the world, which america absolutely led, but “hurr durr, i don’t seem uch difference”. imo, centreleft struggles with military voters precisely because individual anti-war position translate into not appreciating other people’s service, and why the right wing has a very easy time lying and converting them into votes. everything is a culture war to the gop, which is why we can’t cede the argument.

There’s occasional cracks in the tough guy facade. After 2016 he got asked if he was going to appoint a special prosecutor to go after Hillary and said something to the effect of “nah, the Clintons are good people.”
Some of it I think is that on a base level he understands that purely political prosecutions are a form of mutually assured destruction that could come back on him some day. Which does make me worry that now that he’s 8 years more senile and unhinged, plus facing a gajillion felony indictments, he might be more likely to seek revenge than previously. A Trump win scares me more now than it did in 2016.
