2024 US Presidential Election (Taylor's Version)

Just realized that the one for sure non-DEI VP pick that I can think of was Dick Cheney. A bit of a point in DEI’s favor imo.

W was was such a blatant nepo baby that even Republicans felt a little embarrassed about nominating him.

Remember those good old days when things like education, science, medicine, improving the treatment of marginalized groups, protecting the environment were all kind of generally agreed upon good things and people squabbled over how best to make them better? The big debates were like, are you in favor of killing murders or just caging them until they die and whether we should ban smoking in restaurants.

lol that was some real cave paintings and woolly mammoth shit.

ah yes, montel williams, famously the key to the white house

Would like her to pick Kelly just so we can hear Trump brag out being begged to go up on one of the Apollo missions.

Looks like Ipsos was at 44-44 between the two of them a week ago.

Morning Consult has Trump 47-45, but notes that this is a four-point improvement from their last Biden-Trump poll.

Going to be funny if Democrats win by discovering the one cool trick of parliamentary politics when your party is popular but a specific politician isn’t, just swapping them out for someone who is.

I suspect these RV (registered voters) polls likely underestimate Dem strength by a percent or more. Dems have been shown as more likely to vote in light of Dobbs and general Trump hatred.

The last 6 Democratic VPs all eventually became the party’s nominee for POTUS themselves. Harris, Biden, Gore, Mondale, Humphrey, LBJ.

So yeah, I know Harris has to think about winning now. But it sure would be nice if the person doesn’t suck at national politics, because they’re quite likely to be next in line if she wins. I’d love to see somebody a little more vibrant like Whitmer or Pete, but it seems she’s focused on the boring white male governor types.

I think Jack McBrayer could play a good Andy Beshear.

the last Ipsos poll i was able to find was post-assassination and had Trump leading Biden 43-41. So looks like Biden → Kamala is going to be around a 4-6 point bump which puts us firmly in coin flip territory and maybe even small favs. And a potential DNC bump could make us clear favs.
