this crusty old bitch was standing outside the early voting place today handing out republican who-to-vote-for cards. guy behind me asked her if she could tell him whether he was supposed to vote yes or no for issue 1 (ohio gerrymandering).

i know yall have talked a little about it, but those fuckers wrote it in a way that sure does look like you’re supposed to vote no. the entire language of the bill was printed and put up in the lobby and it was like, 6 feet across by 3 feet high. reminded me of the contract they had to sign walking into willy wonka’s chocolate factory. must have been 1000+ words printed in size 32 font.

anyway, i started paying attention and almost just told him myself that to end the ridiculous gerrymandering you vote yes, but i wanted to see what she was going to say. bold-faced lied right to his face in front of the whole line and said “to end gerrymandering, you vote no”.

first time in a long time i lost my shit a little in public. i let her have it. how in the fuck do you think it’s okay to lie to someone genuinely asking you, go the fuck back over to the other side of the parking lot, you’re a liar, etc.

i’m a little intimidating to some people, and i picked up pretty quickly that she knew she fucked up and scurried away and i realized i was cussing an old woman out in front of like 20 people and stopped. my girlfriend’s daughter was with me voting for the first time and she is super anti-confrontation and i picked up on that too. so i turned around and took a breath.

then the guy that originally asked her started mocking her too (he knew damn well he was voting yes and was just fishing and said so lmaoo) and 3 other unassociated people started yelling at her too. definitely was in a good place in line surrounded by the same team.

then the man she was with chose to answer the question, “you think the gerrymandering is a good thing, and should continue?” with “well
it’s good for our side” and smiled a big shit-eating grin. after just trying to lie to get someone to vote his way. maaan seriously the entire line started yelling all at once so much that a cop came over to see what the issue was.

at this point i hadn’t said anything in a couple minutes and was just listening and waiting for the “the mean liberals are yelling at me for lying to them” defense, the cop just told her to move and that was it. everyone had a conversation about how in the fuck she could be allowed to be giving misinformation to people literally in line to vote at the county election office. cop comically shrugged and left.

on our way out, she was right back standing next to people in line telling people who to vote for. gf’s daughter never looked up and said loud enough for only me to hear “dontsayanythingdontsayanythingdontsayanything" and i summoned all 45 years of maturity and only spit on the concrete as i walked past.

she kinda brought it out of me a little :unamused:

the only reasonable conclusion is that we should start a polling company.

i guess i never thought about it, but do pollsters make money? if so, how? selling the numbers to the campaigns?

Pokemon TCG Pocket to the polls.

If Mark Robinson move to California, decides to run for a judge spot, and ends up in your area, seems like he has a real chance at getting your vote.

The nice thing about the timing of the PR joke fallout is it’s not just swinging voters who haven’t voted yet but it’s also motivating voters who wouldn’t have otherwise turned out. The latter group is probably a significant number and it’s not discounted by the fact that millions of votes have already been cast. Those people by definition haven’t voted yet and still have time to vote (assuming they’re registered). In other words it couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Trump campaign.

Bill Maher sucks. But I have a couple friends who just love him for some reason. So I’m glad at least that he’s unequivocal about Kamala over Trump.

Then again my friends are in California, so who cares. But I have to assume there are some similar situations in swing states.

The work for campaigns, papers, NGOs, ect. Yes it’s a fee for service model.
