crap. looks like they deleted the post.
Thanks, my general anxiety was getting a bit low.
5 suspects involved in New Orleans? Is this the first terrorist cell since Boston?
Truck used in Bourbon Street attack had Texas plates, crossed southern border days ago
edit: Looks like the source on this is Fox News so hopefully it turns out to be false.
Feels lucky they didnât get more. Thatâs a super congested and busy area during an event like NYE. I guess thereâs lots of little areas to scatter to and get cover
Used to live just up canal from there. Everyone I know is good thankfully. Want to go back, been too long since Iâve been to NOLA
Sounds like it was rented from a Uber-type consumer rental site. The person who rented it out likely it wasnât involved.
I havenât read anything that suggests multiple people. But given the reports that he had an ISIS flag in the truck, Iâm sure everyone he associates with will be looked into.
Apparently they added metal barricades after Nice in 2016, but they never use them. So you have intersections where traffic crosses Bourbon St. when itâs in full swing.
GJGE, canât have traffic impeded, thatâs socialism.
looks like this one is going to have a little something for everyone. american citizen. us army vet/possibly still current employee. muslim sounding name. isis flag. recently divorced and custody battle(so it was the womanâs fault)âŚ
At least it wasnât a Palestinian flag. That would do a ton of damage.
As if the reds care. Theyre gonna see an Isis flag and blame it on Palestine anyway.
Yeah canal st pretty much always has traffic. Further downtown theyâll close stuff off.
I mean, it could be a Trump flag and theyâd still blame whatever left thing is in the news most currently.
Theyâd call it a false flag.
I was on Bourbon St this year for Halloween. It was similarly packed then as well.
Iâve started writing a little bit about it here in a topic but if it does end up being a us soldier there are very scary white supremacist terrorist cells online that are connected to russia/ukraine and some nation states that are specifically trying to use online warfare and propaganda to radicalize individuals, especially US military, to committing acts of violence - the bomb guy they recently caught in virginia looks like one of those. heavily radicalized and prepared to carry out mass violence and was clearly taught how to make weapons. itâs the same âlone wolfâ strategy external terrorist cells have pursued for a long time, but it has begun to evolve in the current cyber climate to something very nasty. hope it isnât that. if you wanna go down the rabbit hole, look up âno lives matterâ and look at the groups theyâre associated with. frankly, iâm shocked things like this donât happen more often.
Maybe the government is doing massive surveillance on us and that is why we donât hear about this stuff more often. They might be catching it at the beginning and it doesnât make the news cycle?
I struggle moderating my tone here because it pisses me off so bad, but from what I know about and have researched I have less than zero faith in the feds, a little faith in our intelligence agencies, and absolutely 100% confidence we are getting slaughtered in whatever weird war this will end up being called
in a nutshell the major issue is that govt surveillance has been outsourced to big tech et al. They dont need a warrant when they can just buy the data thatâs for sale commercially - this has been happening for a while. even if the data was collected illegally, you have plausible deniability if you do it that way. the one problem with that is bad actors can also purchase the same data and have just as good if not better technical resources tham we do, especially when it comes to exploiting the american psyche with automated and mass scale propaganda. i hate to be bleak but like I said Iâm shocked this doesnt happen more, I suspect some of this are test runs to larger scale violence
and i dont think theyre just catching people before violence happens, because piggies celebrate and brag whenever that happens to justify their funding - just look to the ATF capture of this bomb dude in virginia. if they were doing it theyâd say it
I was there a couple weeks back, stayed in the lower garden district but wandered over to the FQ a couple times. I love visiting NOLA, not sure about living there.
Living more uptown is pretty great as a young professional. Donât think kids would have been super great.
Couldnât decide which thread to post in. LOL Law or LOL Media. Help me choose.
Some both-sidesing of John Roberts being a lying right-wing twat. Prolly leaning LOL Law I guess. But porque no los dos?..
Jamie Raskin at least gets quoted later.
