holy shit how many accidents have there been? They need to just install bull bars on the front of the train so it can quickly restart after an accident without being damaged.
Went to see Sarah Silverman standup last night in Portland. The show was meh but it had the dumbest thing I have ever seen. When you go in they force you to lock your phone in a small fabric pouch rendering it unusable even to see the time. There is small area where they will temporarily unlock it but when you leave they wand you like at the airport. Then the entire theatre has to line up after to get then to unlock 1500 individual pouches.
As if Silbermanās act being photographed is that important.
Pure idiocy. Made me hate the show right from the start.

I see a fair amount of big name comedians that go on tour (at least 1x/yr, most years 2x). Got a pouch the last five times except for John Oliver, IIRC (pretty sure no pouch for his show). Itās standard now.

At least a few of the times, their show was set to become a Netflix or HBO special in the near future and they were fine tuning their material. It seems reasonable to not want a vid of your whole act that is going to be streaming soon.
It stupid because it is insanely easy to circumvent and just causes annoyance for the 99.9999% of people who have no intention of trying to record. Those who want to simply claim they donāt have a phone or bring a second one.

If itās going to be a netflix show makes sense, otherwise itās misguided unless your show sells out regardless as if a joke goes viral you win, itās free publicity

True. In fact at least two of the comedians I saw included a joke about that during their sets. Nevertheless, Iām sure theyāve done some sort of research on it and they have probably found that when they do it this way, it cuts down the amount of pirated content that makes its way into the ecosystem. I suspect that they probably have people watching for audience members who are recording and this way there are a lot fewer people to potentially have to confront.
most likely all dead with reports of maybe a couple of survivors. landing gear failure, which is weird to report a cause without any investigation yet.

why itās weird: landing gear failure has been known to happen, but you dont just try to yolo a landing full speed into the tarmac if you know. you try to troubleshoot as long as possible before you either run out of fuel or are forced by other factors. no one just tries to belly land without gear unless they have to, and what factors caused that decision? What was the failure here? This is a component that is built to almost never fail. So coming out and immediately saying ālooks like landing gear failureā just doesnt make sense from this autistic airline crash dorkās viewpoint. but maybe boeings really are this shitty. Itās possible to land one of these with no gear or engines, an example is the gimli glider, but you dont do what they seemed to do in the videos ive seen. I dont want to link the video here because it is terrible but it looks like they came down thinking their landing gear was available, but it wasnt. thats a way worse failure than just landing gear, they would get a shitload of warnings and alarms if they tried to configure a landing like that. some experts have noted their flap configuration didnt look right either (the things that slow the plane down). Just really weird and tragic.

Yeah I noticed the flaps werenāt up. Seems like that would have helped slow it down.
