The ashes of 12-year-old Chris Edwards are buried on the grounds of a Pine County camp, where his mother insisted his memorial service be held after his HIV-related death in 1999.
It’s one of the reasons former campers are saddened by the news that One Heartland in Willow River, Minn., about 40 minutes southwest of Duluth, is for sale. The 80-acre site is home to a camp that has served kids living with or affected by HIV/AIDS for more than 30 years. But the number of babies contracting the virus through their mothers has declined to the point where such a camp no longer needs to exist.
“It’s a heartbreaker,” said Chris’ brother, Dylan Edwards, who attended the camp with Chris for years.
“But the purpose of the camp was for sick kids,” he said, and if there are so few that a camp isn’t feasible, “it’s hard to feel bad about that.”
I ordered and paid for a 14” frying pan and received two
Got a single 14" pan delivered on Monday. Now feeling like I was ripped off. At least they didn’t give you mine.
I must be the only person in the history of Amazon to have to return something.
Got this huge Hot Wheels garage thingy that was broken out of the box. The battery powered motor wouldn’t turn on. Amazon replaced it immediately but now I have to get the damaged one back in the box bc they want it back. It’s like putting toothpaste back in the tube. Never going to get this thing to fit. fack
My wife returns stuff to Amazon all the time. Usually we just drop it off at Staples, but it hasn’t needed to be in original packaging.
I’ve only had to return one thing ever but it was a near-seamless experience. I drove up to Kohl’s a few miles from my house, they had a whole kiosk in back operated by Amazon employees who took care of everything. It was a router, though, so pretty simple to repackage.
another layer to this tremendous annoyance is that my MIL is the person who bought this thing but something something it’s now my problem bc she’s completely flummoxed by the prospect of something going back to where it came from. still fack
Make her do it or she will never learn
you’re gdamn right. family trip to kohl’s tomorrow. she’s going to be so put out.
The amazon kiosk at our Kohl’s is smack in the middle of the men’s department so she wouldn’t get distracted by scarfs or shoes (I am not in NYC)
Ive never had to repackage anything for Amazon. Just roll up to the counter and throw it at the employee back there. Theyll take care of the rest
Pretty sure everything you return to Amazon just goes in the dumpster anyway. That’s usually cheaper than figuring out if it still works and repackaging it.
This wouldn’t surprise me one bit. In an earnings call earlier this year, the head of AWS said they were expecting just that division to rake in $100 billion in revenues by the end of this FY.
Isn’t Amazon supposed to be making it more difficult to return things, or am i imagining I heard this a while back?
amazon has a refurbished/open box store.
They destroy millions of products a year. They have such a stranglehold on the market that it’s designed to be a one way highway.
For example, there’s not a contingency plan for if someone passes away.
Products also get randomly shipped to a customer because it makes more sense for a seller to give it away than to pay amazon to house it.
No they told the camera. You don’t know when the camera recorded it. Maybe it recorded it after you saw it
I’ve returned a ton of stuff to Amazon, mainly clothes I ordered in different sizes for the kids. Have a few phone cases I need to return this weekend. I usually go to Kohl’s, but there’s also a Whole Foods in the same shopping center.
Just throw it all in a bag and take it to Kohl’s or one of the other return places.
My Pony got drop shipped…
I think this varies pretty considerably by locality and by drop off location and by seller. Most things I can drop off at whole foods and they basically give zero fucks about the condition it’s in or if it’s in packaging etc. Some stuff has to go back to UPS, and in that case, it must be “in a box” (presumably that a label can be affixed to). Some things I’ve had to return to Kohls (which is not super convenient for me), and usually those have to be in the original packaging.
My wife sent something to her sister (two states away) and it needed to be returned and I was about to lose my mind listening to her try to explain how to return shit to amazon to my wife (who returns approximately 900 items per week). My sister in law is one of those people who cannot comprehend that things might be different in different situations and also is 100% sure she is always correct and if you have a different opinion than she does, it’s obviously because you’re a moron. Anyway they’re on the phone and my wife is going to initiate the return and then just text the QR code to her sister and she’s yelling at my wife “just pick kohls” but kohls was clearly not even an option for this item and my SIL could not wrap her head around this and just kept yelling that my wife was doing it wrong.
