Canada is way more diverse than the US. Google it.

I have googled it. Assigment finished

Show me a source that shows America as more diverse.

Define ā€œway moreā€

USA is the second most diverse OECD country by most measures (race, cultural, languages), but Canada is first. And by a fair margin.

United states per latest census is 12-15% black. Estimates of up to 16% ā€œlatinoā€ which they just lumped in with white groups and didnt give their own category because ā€œlatinoā€ is a complex and diverse group on its own. Canadaā€™s mix is basically different groups of various white people and some native american populations. Donā€™t make a claim and then ask me to provide evidence to the contrary, provide yours first.

We have our fair share of ethic battles but this is another core problem with American culture. The melting pot is a really terrible philosophy that leads to lots of the bad outcomes we see in the US such as religious levels of patriotism.

I wasnā€™t disputing that itā€™s more diverse, I was just interested in how exactly weā€™re quantifying that.

You arenā€™t an expert on American culture. Music is a huge part of our identity, of which, you know very little.

Jmakin and SCOTUS determine diversity by Black and nonblack.

Clovis8 and Canada determine it by white and nonwhite.

Iā€™m not really kidding. Thatā€™s the discrepancy here

SCOTUS thing Iā€™m just taking from court mandated school district desegregation

I remember it shifted my Alabama school district when they changed from measuring white and nonwhite to black and nonblack

The list I looked up was on ethnic fractionalization.

Ethnic fractionalization is a measure of how likely it is that two randomly selected people from a population are part of different ethnic groups.

Music? Huh. What does that have to with this conversation?!?!

Also wouldnā€™t be surprised if thereā€™s stuff like Canada being polite enough to break ā€œAsianā€ down into more categories than USA. Shit like that

This is how I view things and how the american public views things and how this winning campaign has viewed things and how idiotic democratic campaigns have viewed things. If you even look at the whole gun nut movement itā€™s all deep down about arming yourselves against the ā€œblacks.ā€ Canada doesnt have a gun problem because that deep, core racial bias doesnt exist to the same degree and with the same dark history in canada as it does here.

Thatā€™s why I say it isnā€™t an apples to apples comparison. If I were being extremely uncharitable I would say these takes about ā€œbetterā€ culture just sound to me like ā€œless black problemsā€ culture but thatā€™s my world view and perspective.

I donā€™t see a measure for this, but question for people who have widely traveled both USA and Canada, how do they compare on racial/ethnic segregation?

Relevant

How many different ethnicities are there for white people?

This is the problem with conflating race and ethnicity.
