2024 Election POST MORTEM

I do think that the Dems (not as much the actual left) do get off on their “moral superiority” and that has really turned some people off.

It’s very much both, but yes they do it in different ways.

I think it’s different levels in both magnitude and levels of repulsiveness.

For example, claiming moral superiority while yukking it up onstage with the Cheneys? Insanely repulsive.

I feel that you willingly skipped over knowingly hiring registered sex offenders and that maintaining a toxic workplace culture is okay. I’d give a watch to those DogPack videos. The first two show how much of a sociopath Mr. Beast is.

Charity is standard whitewashing behavior.

But whatever. I’m not going to change your mind. You go your way and I’ll go mine.

I’m not taking a side, but the giveaways are ,allegedly, also fraudulent and are given to his family/friends. This was the claim made by a former employee in a reddit post.

Novel idea but maybe our side should try some misinformation one day?

Misinformation works but we don’t do that because we are the good guys is some very dum dum level 1 thinking.

Another thought that occurred to me is that in no place ever, in the history of humanity, have we ever seen morality dominate politics. It’s almost entirely the opposite. The Dems turning into the party of moral superiority and then expecting to win everything because of it is just a total misunderstanding of the basic fundamentals of humanity.

We are going to find out real fast just how crazy the second Trump administration is going to be.

S&P 6,000. Working hard, thank you!

The framing of the economy from the media, opinion polls, and of course the right, is about to flip 180 degrees.

How do you explain Latino men making the huge jump to Trump just on inflation. That means they care significantly more about inflation than every other demographic?

It has to be illegal immigration. That is the only control variable to explain it.

We are talking about a 35 point swing for a single demographic.

I’m genuinely curious about this. I don’t know any right-wing Latinos unfortunately. So, I don’t have any way to know what they were thinking. Like you, I can only imagine it being illegal immigration.

Maybe for subgroups like Cubans it’s anti-communism and for some deeply Christian Latinos it’s being pro-life but those people were probably already voting Trump.

I wonder if like white American men, they were also annoyed by wokeness and obnoxious SJW identity politics stuff.

It’s not the only change between Harris and Biden

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ben Rhodes wrote a long post mortem that was fine but nothing spectacular other than this line, which I thought was elite and the key idea going forward:

Mr. Trump is the new establishment in this country and globally, and we should emphasize that instead of painting him as an outlier or interloper.

It’s less inflation in isolation and more that “Trump is a great businessman and Republicans are better at the economy” which is obviously 100% wrong but basically a meme that can’t be shaken.
