The cherry on top is kamala was one of if not the worst performing historically in the dem primaries. She’s deeply connected to the CA dem political power structure, it’s the only reason + tokenism she even got the VP nod.

a common refrain has been that we were getting trounced no matter who the candidate was but i find it hard to believe that covering up Biden’s condition for 2 years and installing Kamala who 0 people voted for didnt cost us at least a couple million votes. How could that kind of naked corruption not have at least a little impact on turnout?

Pretty interesting. Maybe I was wrong and ground game isn’t dead. Or maybe dem messaging wasn’t getting heard outside swing states.
Not sure, but this does seem like more evidence that this result was mostly about the overall political environment and not a tactical campaign issue.

My guess is this is because Democrats were especially demotivated this year. Swing states voters felt the pressure to prevent disaster more.

Problem is it is tough to compare how many millions sat it out because of Kamala procedural beef, and how many would have sat it out because Biden was a withered old man so stricken with dementia that he couldn’t even speak. Probably fucked either way tbh.
