In 2020 Duval county (Jacksonville is almost the entire county) went blue in a presidential election for the first time since Carter in 1976 while Trump carried the state by 4%. DeSantis was reelected in the county by 12 points in 2022. I don’t know what that means other than Charlie Crist was a shit candidate, but it’s my home town so I thought I could add context.

Not sure if it belongs here or in LOL Dems, but Philly mayor race was won by a female Eric Adams status-quo machine Dem with 28% of the vote after two “change” candidates split the white vote. She infamously got off of a DUI after the judge was her friend who didn’t recuse herself.
She promptly got too drunk at her victory party last night to make a speech and was hospitalized.
the news says “sudden dental issue”… because that happens a lot to the best of us after our victory parties.
Also flipped Colorado Springs mayor…which absolutely blows my mind. AND he’s like, one of the five black residents of that city

I cannot tell you how huge this is. If you’ve spent any time in CO, you know…CSprings is (was?) basically a white Christian nationalist stronghold…it’s where the movement basically started in the 90’s. I am in absolute shock over this result. It’s fucking incredible.
Meanwhile Philly, a city with a 7 to 1 dem to rep voter base, elected the tough on crime tough on homelessness and flood the city with more police lady to be the democratic nominee for Mayor.
