Solid Copium post
I think the Lions just got unlucky on that ridiculous bounce pass. But also when you put all your eggs in the Jared Goff basket you know heartbreaking playoff losses could be ahead.
The Bills got incredibly unlucky with injuries on the defensive side.
The Ravens are the only team in the playoffs that legit choked imo. The Chiefs got into their heads and rattled them early.
Yeah I agree. Niners and Bork played great. It’s really tough to beat Mahomes/Kelce/Reid with a championship defense, and the 9ers came a play or two from pulling it off with a 2nd year non-prodigy QB.
I was pretty sure the Chiefs were losing that game at several points. It’s funny because I hear national pundits talking about how Mahomes was inevitable. They’d have said the same thing if they Chiefs came back to win the AFCCG against Burrow. But as we know, it wasn’t inevitable.
Chiefs got really lucky not to face the Lions imo, the only way to beat Mahomes is to keep the ball out of his hands and Campbell seems to be the only coach in the NFL who realizes that and has the balls to actually implement that strategy

Cowgirls?
Anyone else just regard the Dunkin commercial as a massive hedge fund flexing it’s money? It’s not cool, it’s not punk, it’s the best ideas of finance Bros at work.
I think a lot of 49er fans, but this goes fo all team fans, want to, or expect to see another 9er dynasty with the next gen quarterback (Purdy) being the new Montana/Young but that obviously isnt gaurenteed and the current team just isnt that - at least not yet.
The more I think about it, coaching malpractice not to run CMC until he couldn’t run anymore.
Goff has been very very good despite his limitations and the Lions offense has been among the top. The main issue was defense. They’ve struggled to find capable outside corners since they traded Darius Slay and whiffed on the Okudah pick. The 50 yard bomb off the facemask was a direct product of this.
Seattle surprised us a bit with the Witherspoon pick in last years draft, who was widely expected to go to the Lions at 6. The counterpoint is we traded the #6 pick to get two amazing offensive weapons in Gibbs and LaPorta. So it missing Witherspoon may have been a net gain even if it leaves outside CB a borderline fatal flaw.
Yeah it just feels to me like when we were hoping to get there with Smiff. Everything has to go your way.

In any other context, this footage would not end well.
Parade turnout may be biggest one yet. Weather is perfect, 60 and sunny.
At any given time there’s at most 2 or 3 QBs that can pretty much carry a random team deep into the playoffs. If your only plan to win a SB is to have one of those guys, you could be waiting a very very long time. Mahomes might be the only guy in the NFL right now worthy of that. He’s at the very least in a tier of his own talent wise.
But I also think that’s why it’s important not to give market resetting contracts to guys like Goff, Hurts, etc. They are very good for sure, but they aren’t getting there on their own. You either need to save some money or just have insane drafts to build up the necessary support structure. Lions have clearly done that on offense with Goff. Now the question is if they can patch up the defense without sacrificing the top tier offense.
If we don’t sign Goff. 8 teams will give him 4/200
And then what. We roll out a 3rd round WB with no snaps. Trade 3 first for a trash can qb
Go 6-11 and everyone gets fired?
I’m nitpicking on Kelce’s recollection but the ref definitely didn’t show surprise and ask SF if they really wanted the ball. He simply said it out loud to confirm it for the crowd and tv, and then turned to Mahomes and asked which way he wanted to kick.
