2023 LC Thread - It was predetermined that I would change the thread title (Part 1)

Yes it’s cash. That’s what makes it an interesting question. You have to maximize your equity in the 30 min.

I still feel like a jewelry store in your best bet. If they’ll take your cash, you can get a million dollars of precious metals that will fit in a duffel bag. That can be stored in a bank personal box and converted back to cash at your leisure. There would be friction on the transaction but you would probably capture most of the 1 million eventually. Cars are illiquid and lose a lot of their value instantly.

The catch, of course, is that hardly anyone is just going to take one million cash no questions asked. A jewelry store would also probably require that the money be validated before letting you walk out with the jewels.

I might still know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who has $1M of drugs to sell. But 30 minutes, no way.

the deal should be that if you don’t spend the entire $1,000,000, every last penny, you lose everything you did manage to buy.

also the good news is if you drop a milly at a Rolex AD on their used inventory or whatever new pieces they have in stock, they will absolutely put you on the “good customer” list so you can buy the good shit at MSRP and immediately flip it.

Feel like a lot of you are massively overrating how much you can do in 30 minutes. It would take me 10 minutes minimum (and maybe as much as 20) just to get to a jewelry store.

Maybe some of you live really close to jewelers and car dealerships.

Honestly my best bet might be to go to the nearby gas stations and buy out their inventories of scratch off tickets.

ROI is terrible, but it’s gotta be over 50%.

They’d never have over 5k worth on hand.

Have the royal Canadian mint and a casino within 10 minutes. Yolo at either.

Feel like it’s considerably more than that, but your point is still valid. Guess I’d just amplify by pumping out Mega Millions and Powerball tickets.

I have a casino really close too, and one I go to weekly, but I doubt I could convince them to let me bet that much cash in 30 min.

I’m not sure they would accept that big a bet at all even with lots of heads up.

Looking up a second hand RV sale is an option.

Most scratch tickets are sub $5, just not even worth scanning for this.

Gotta be honest, fruits and fish sandwiches were far more interesting than this hypothetical money thing.

Does anyone have a million dollars worth of kumquats they’re looking to sell quickly?

I think if you told the dealership what you were doing they could facilitate it very quickly. Sticker price , agreed upon add ons, they could get it done fairly quickly in a production hion.

But it still might not be enough time. That would be 20 50k cars. If it was a big dealership they could probably close 10-15 deals simultaneously. The biggest problem would be fighting for commission where the guy who upped you would want the commission on all the cars, even if others helped. Then they might have to talk about splitting commissions. I could see a car dealership screwing this up arguing over commissions.
