right they need to vote for the side that broke the rail worker strike

“the side”

The House has passed a resolution 290-137 that would force unions to accept a tentative agreement reached earlier this year between railroad managers and their workers and make an imminent strike illegal.

The U.S. Senate voted 80 to 15 on Thursday to impose a tentative contract deal reached in September on a dozen unions representing 115,000 workers, who could have gone on strike on Dec. 9. But the Senate failed to approve a measure that would have provided paid sick days to railroad workers.

rofl yeah man Joe Biden had nothing to do with that deal happening, working man Joe would never.

What did Kevin McCarthy and Co. do to stop Biden exactly?

Calling out Dems as “the side that broke the rail strike” implies Republicans were doing something for the workers when as far as I can tell they were happy to go along with breaking the strike.

what the fuck are you talking about? No it doesn’t.

Also, most railroad workers now have sick leave, b/c negotiations quietly continued on in the background even after the strike was blocked.

Oh the rail trade group said that? What does the unions rank and file say?

Reagan breaking the ATC strike set labor back in this country massively. Strikes plummeted and labor learned its place in Reagan’s America. The Democrats haven’t been a true friend to labor since about then, and Biden certainly isn’t. He broke a fucken strike. I’m sure many here will say it’s different from Reagan breaking the ATC strike but that’s just blue no matter who rationalization. A Republican would have broken the strike even harder! Maybe but Biden still broke a strike. You can’t call yourself pro labor after breaking a strike. It’s absurd.

Happy for any incremental improvements but celebrating 30% plus still not having sick leave misses the point.

Looks like the 60% that get it max at 7 days of PTO (unless I’m misreading)

You know how they could have created leverage to get a decent PTO policy? Striking.

Republicans are clearly worse when it comes to labor.

RIght but that’s a pretty tough sell. Democrats clearly aren’t pro-labor. “Hey we’re not as bad as Republicans usually” isn’t really a compelling tag line.

It would be interesting to break it down more locally. Nationally it’s tough to see a big difference but on a local level I see more of the real pro labor candidates being democrats, at least where I live

Labor is looking strong

Never got the Hubbub over Ripken. Dude got half the year off and when he did have to work it was to play a literal childs game. Like ten minutes labor tops. Full time at Burger King the real big leagues imo.

Americans needed a new hero, especially since Lou Gehrig had the bad luck of dying from his own disease.

My Roomba just set the Fool’s Mate speed record for getting stuck – less than 10 seconds from leaving the dock. Made a beeline straight for the fan then got stuck on the slightly angled base (kryptonite for Roombas).

Usually it thrashes around for 15 minutes before finally giving up. Must be getting old.

having carpet is a life leak imho. there are lots of better flooring options that don’t require vacuuming.

Hell yeah midlife crisis sex robot.

If you’d like to pay for and install some hardwood flooring in my place I won’t stand in your way.
