Even in Singapore this is likely true. They guy in Churchill’s post is from the smallest significant ethnic minority in Singapore (i.e. they are significant enough that their language is one of the official languages of Singapore, but still under 10% of population, IIRC.).
Just quickly skimming a wikipedia list, it seems that ethnic Malays and South Asians are way over represented in getting the death penalty compared to ethnic Chinese (who are the majority ethnic group).
The capture era shattered family bonds among the J, K, and L pods, and their numbers, while they have climbed in some years, have not recovered from the low point of that era.
This is the part that’s not talked about enough imo, wrt to any smart animals like orcas or elephants. These animals have a culture that’s passed down across the generations. You destroy that and you destroy their ability to thrive, if not survive at all.
It’s also something I worry about if they ever clone wooly mammoths. How are they going to learn how to be mammoths in the wild? That chain is broken forever. And probably the same with tigers once they’re lost from the wild.
It’s also massively offensive to the tribes that have a connection to the animals. These fuckers can’t see past the end of their own noses. Can’t even relate to what the area tribes are feeling about a statement like that. Pure hubris.
I was thinking about this more and if we had zero tolerance for low level dealers policies, I think cartels would either start using the drug addicts themselves as dealers or trafficked minors. I guess if they raised the prices as well to compensate low level dealers for increased penalty it would be pure Battle Royale levels of chaos where addicts go from needing $10 to $100.
US radio tilts to country anyway as a genre. That’s going to factor into a lot of this stuff, I would guess that conservative country schlock shows up regularly in the Billboard Top 100.
Having lived through the Philippines drug war taking a lot of drugs.
The drug war made drugs a little harder to get, the coke significantly worse, and made the guy who sold all the drugs in the door of our local bar go underground.
I’m told that street shabu (local speed/meth) was still omnipresent.
The drug war also killed between 15,000 and 30,000 people. Many of them kids, including many documented cases of innocent victims.
Got an email from someone I dated 15 years ago.

Lolweird. They need my help getting rid of the car we bought together. Which is obviously no big deal but kind of funny and awkward. I always wondered what happened to that car. Apparently the Toyota Corolla was built to last.
I see (this fictionalized version) as more of a road trip story. No POA, everyone has to pile in the car and drive it somewhere else … along the way, old traumas are explored and healed, and our protagonist(s) interpret the geography they traverse through the lens of their own changing self and the re-processing of their history.
