THE GAMBLER WHO BEAT ROULETTE

Then there was the win rate. Tosa’s crew didn’t hit the right number on every spin, but they did as often as not, in streaks that defied logic: eight in a row, or 10, or 13. Even with a dozen chips on the table at a total cost of £1,200 (about $2,200 at the time), the 35:1 payout meant they could more than double their money. Security staff watched nervously as their chip stack grew ever higher. Tosa and the Serbian, who did most of the gambling while their female companion ordered drinks, had started out with £30,000 and £60,000 worth of chips, respectively, and in no time both had broken six figures. Then they started to increase their bets, risking as much as £15,000 on a single spin.

I love well written long form articles, almost doesn’t matter the topic. This one was good.

Journalists should stop calling these things “pranks”. This is harassment.

I never liked Candid Camera, and I don’t like Impractical Jokers or What Would You Do?

I don’t find anything amusing or entertaining about watching people be put in situations where their decency and respect for social rules make them a target.

OTOH, I do like The Carbonaro Effect, since it’s mostly close up magic, and on the occasions where they upset people with full scale tricks, it’s due to the trick freaking them out, as compared to having some person singing at the top of their lungs in an elevator just to see what people will do.

Impractical Jokers mostly make themselves the butt of the joke, they aren’t really ripping on other people, with some caveats.

That being said the show is absolutely hysterical.

Yeah I never knew this about him until now but I just image he’s trying to become the next Nate Silver and that he’s got a book coming out called “Can’t tell us apart: a poker players guide to battling polarization in politics”

You know which thread this first class clown is ending up in.

They found out Coolio died from a fentanyl overdose, back in September.
