2023 LC Thread - It was predetermined that I would change the thread title (Part 1)

I feel for Carter, but I still don’t think it is appropriate to keep a former President at home. These people belong in a museum.

A president who was actually a good human being. No wonder why everybody in Washington hated him.

I have a friend dealing with something very similar. His son is a middle schooler. ~13 I’m guessing. A girl sends him a tit pic. He shares it with friends. The school and parents find out. The kid got expelled from school and last I heard they were pursuing charges against him.

I get it’s a serious thing but they’re going quite overboard ruining a kids life over dumb kid shit.

Holy shit

Strangely enough there’s a movie about that and the plot is suspiciously familiar to our community history lol

During the Mexican Revolution a small town is presided over by a tyrant who commands a grizzled outlaw and his men. Also in town is a priest with a violent past, who has abandoned his clerical duties.

Starring Alain Delon from Le Samurai.

Ive also heard the official custom is all you can eat Toblerone

Switzerland is amazing and their commitment to chocolate is very real. The grocery stores have a chocolate aisle like a cereal aisle in the US.

Do you have kids? In any case, Switzerland and the Alps are A+++ in the summer if you enjoy hiking. If you don’t, maybe not so much?

Also close to France and Italy, with scenic drives in either direction. There is the big downside that you’re 50/50 to experience insane heat in the middle of summer though. But the Italian rivera is still cooler, with several great spots both for families and couples. Also close to Piedmont wine country.

It should also be said that Switzerland is hilariously expensive.

My brother has traveled in Europe a bunch and Spain and Austria were his favorites.

He was neutral on Switzerland.

i haven’t been to a lot of places, but i loved spain. excellent food, great climate, amazing cities, and charming countryside. lots of history and art to gawk at. very unique culture and music, yet plenty of western influences around as well.

it’s also surprisingly socialist. don’t be surprised when driving on Calle Carlos Marx.

So much this.

It’s a beautiful country but the bang for your buck is pretty low compared to neighboring countries.

Also found Swiss people to be uptight and anal-retentive during my week there.

It’s literally the most expensive thing in the hotel fridge tho so buyer beware

Do they clock innocent little girls in the face?

Faithfully replicated in Tom & Jerry: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (2017)

Or give out fucking handfuls of free candy to everyone but the kid outside so poor his family considers a loaf of bread a feast best paired with cabbage soup?

I was hopeful that maybe the Candy Man can but of course waits to reward the kids brave enough to go inside.

Except once Charlie finally does…!

Stop trying to get people to go to France! No one cares that you live there. Accept your decisions and the density of your baguettes.

Nice, that’s nice.

Wait until you meet those mfkers from Norway!!!

How the turns table!

AI really needs to learn to identify its own flaws and fix them, otherwise they are just second rate as we use computers versus computers.

The irony is that the strategy the human player used to defeat the AI was discovered by…wait for it…an AI lol

At first glance I thought Alpha Go was beaten, but apparently it was some other AI that is supposedly just as good. Given this defeat, I’m a bit skeptical about that claim.

And for sure Alpha Go has patched this leak by now, so I guess we will never know.

Reminder that almost everyone in this forum was born after women were allowed to vote in any election in Switzerland, and your mom/grandmom if she lived in Switzerland couldn’t vote in anything for periods of her life (1990 all local, federal 1971).
