2023-2024 House of Representatives Shitshow Containment: MAGA Mike XXS

What was McCarthy’s biggest get? Feels like Gosar to me.

McCarthy is picking up steam on PI:

What are the converts getting from him, and why are other reps not demanding stuff to keep voting for him?

The answer to the second question is they are embarrassed by the shit show and fearful of retaliation if they make problems for McCarthy. Some of them probably like McCarthy too.

We’ve given $110 billion dollars to Ukraine, that’s a lot more than 5% of our annual defense spending. That’s just what’s been acknowledged in the open, the extent of secret CIA/NSA/other black spending and support won’t be known for a long time.

Well, Perry is the chair of the Freedom Caucus, so he and Roy were probably the two most important. But Gosar is definitely one of the most intransigent ones out there.

Biggs, Boebert, Gaetz, and Good are hard never Kevin’s. Allegedly.

Leaving Crane, Harris, and Rosendale (the dude who trolled with his Kevin vote) all needed I think.

Now that McCarthy is ahead in the vote, the plurality motion is back in play.

110 has been preposed but not all has been delivered, its not all military aide, and 110 total will be over 2 years. If you have better info. and maybe you do, then site your source. I would argue that even at 110 billion, all military aide and even in one year, is still a much better alternative then letting Putin run over Eastern Europe

With two Rs out today, are they going to be able to win a vote for adjournment? Assuming they want one.

According to your link we’ve been spending 7 billion dollars a month or so and the latest aid package will be used up by May. So 110 billion dollars in 14 months of war.

However you figure it, way more than 5% of our defense budget.

To date 68 billion has been approved, again it’s not all military aide. Only 38 billion is categorized as direct military aide. About 5% percent of our budget. Other then financial cost of defending Ukraine and possibly defeating Putin, do you have another point to make?

Basically they’re promising a shut down next year

How the hell is he not losing support from everyone else agreeing to this crap.

45 billion was approved in the omnibus bill that was passed the end of last year. But no, my point is pretty clear: we’ve spent a hell of a lot more than 5% of our defense budget on the Ukraine war. Anyone saying we’ve only spent 5% of our defense budget in the Ukraine-Russia war is either misinformed or being purposefully misleading.

Presumably because he’s telling them at the same time that none of these agreements are enforceable?

Also, give it time imo. He’s trying to fit a carpet into a room that’s too big. Pushing it into one corner just pulls it out in another.

I don’t know though. I saw someone say there are two groups in the GOP, the insurrectionists and the insurrectionists’ fellow travelers. It could be that the ‘moderates’ aren’t really opposed to what the extremists are putting down but just want to do the minimum necessary to keep their jobs. The insurrectionists are the true believers.

That’s not a shutdown. That’s a million times worse.

Time for the trillion dollar coin, I guess.

Wow no one could have seen this one coming!

So at 10% is it still a value or did you just comment to split hairs about what is considered direct military aide v humanitarian, and infastructure? How much would it have cost the US military to do the same job?

Is the freedumb cacusus justified in trying to prevent any more spending on Ukraine. I’m sure at some point In the future of Matt Gaetz will say something to the effect of not one more dime or whatever. It’s almost like you want to do their job for them

No nominations from the holdouts is curious. Final negotiations maybe?
