2022 NFL Gameday Thread: C’mon Damar (Part 1)

Amazing news

Hope they don’t tell him about his charity yet. Don’t want him having a heart attack.

Jim Irsay had a one upper donation at $25003.

Yeah looks damn good for him. He’s basically on the same timeline my daughter was, though they did remove the breathing tube on day 3, hopefully that’s coming real soon.

Apparently the first thing he wanted to know is if they won the game.

I’m getting a little weary of the God talk.

Guy survives-thank God

Guy dies- Gods will/he works in mysterious ways.

yeah it’s a bit cringey for sure, but people need that shit to help get them through so w/e. at least it’ll keep them preoccupied from insurrecting or something for a few days.

I’m more fine with God being invoked here than in the Deion Sanders Version. “It was God’s Will that I move from being a legendary HBCU Coach to a place that will pay me $4 Million per year”

So now I’m hearing rumors that the NFL is considering going to a 16-team playoff field for this year so they can get rid of the bye and lessen the impact of potentially handing KC the #1 seed? Not a fan of this at all, feels like serious button mashing. Among other things, it would hugely piss off teams that were supposedly eliminated after week 16 and didn’t play hard in week 17 only to find out now that they would have still been in the mix.

I’ve spoken with some of the other owners about this exact possibility. Some were open to it, but I suspect it might because we keep choking in the playoffs.

Rank it by record and I am all in as a cowboys fan.. Seems improbable though.

Stolen as reply to him asking who won

“Well Damar, the NFL actually suspended the game and is ruling it a “no contest”. So what they’re thinking about doing is, either taking the win percentage of teams, or maybe a random number generator to determine….”

That seems like great fucking news.

“Who won the game?” - What a badass.

the only thing in that post that changed anything is you just made a great case that darts needs to fix the dartboard

Casuals ain’t watching for ring hits

Game cancelled. NFL considering neutral site AFC championship game.

Neutral site AFC title game should be determined via lottery style drawing among all AFC stadiums

I actually think that the solution that has the best combination of simplicity and fairness is one no one has really proposed: Just award Cincy the win.

Only downside is the precedent, but I seriously doubt NFL players in the future are going to fake a Hamlin situation to try to angleshoot.

I assume they would just choose a non playoff team like Jacksonville or atl to host it

That’s not exactly the kind of pr the nfl wants right now

Does Cinci get the win because their player didn’t die on the field, or because they were narrowly ahead after both teams scored on their first possessions midway through the opening quarter?

They were in the lead when the game was called. Also based on models, they had a higher EV to win. Latter is important because a team could be behind by one with a chipshot FG and 1s left. So even though they are behind, they have higher win equity.

In this case Cincy had lead and higher win equity at the point at which the game was stopped.
