Yeah, I guess that is kind of a problem too. But I think it’s less of a problem than any of the alternatives. NFL can stand a lot of bad PR. People are gonna watch this shit no matter what.

Look sure he’s a hero but what song did he hum to keep rhythm, thats what we want to know?
Looks like they are going to take a vote tomorrow on a proposal to seed by win%, and play the AFC championship on a neutral site if one of the scenarios where buf/cin loses out due to the missed game.
Also coinflip cin/bal for homefield if they end up playing in the wild card round (if bal beats them this weekend and they happen to face off).
Passed the competition committee, so I assume it’ll pass. Seems reasonable enough. Winner of the AFC is going to have to run the gauntlet anyhow.
Most of the benefit of the 1 seed is the automatic advancement to round two so this solution sucks imo.
There we have it. It’s the perfect solution.
You Can Do it, Put Your Back Into It, obviously
One of the most awkward things for me
I’d have done nothing, but not a bad solution all things considered.
A bunch of Cheifsplaneteers are still whining about the neutral site.
If we beat the Raiders we get:
- A bye
- No chance of having to play the Bills and Bengals in the playoffs
That is worth so much more than losing home field for the AFCCG. We have way more championship $EV with this plan vs. if they actually finished the game, where the Bills could easily come back and win.
Chiefs are 2-2 at home in the AFCCG the last 4 years. It’s not like Arrowhead is some guaranteed win. A neutral site might even be good for them, less pressure.
The Bengals OTOH are getting hosed.
The piece that is missing is what if BUF plays CIN in the divisional round? A pretty probably outcome if KC wins.
If they are tied or Cinci is 1 game back of BUF then the missing game could have flipped CIN to the 2 seed and BUF to the 3 seed. Really to the follow the rest of the logic, they should just have a coin flip for 2 vs 3 seed to determine the WC round opponents as well.
Cinci is feeling screwed cause their small chance of hosting AFC title game just got hosed to 0. They certainly should not have to play in BUF without at least a coin toss chance of hosting.
Do you get people preaching at you at hospital? Families etc?
I think it’s a pretty good plan for the Chiefs, but I see where they are coming from because I believe strongly (but perhaps wrongly) that Cincinnati was gonna win that game easily.
You’re right not to be that worried though. Either Cincy or Buff is gonna beat the Chiefs no matter where they meet them.
Cincy def gets screwed the most. Now they have to play Buffalo in Buffalo. I think making a Cincy vs Buff 2nd round game a neutral site game would be a good addition.
When we went through our big loss, I had all kinds of people want to sit and pray with/for us. The folks in the home office in a big city were very good about giving me space, let work be a reprieve.
My first visit to the plant in Podunk, USA was another story. I got invited to dinner by people I barely knew and I just needed to trust in the Lord.
I can’t imagine what medical staff have to deal with.
Cincy still had a shot at the #1 seed and a bye if they had beat Buffalo and the Chiefs lose Saturday. They’re getting near the bottom of their range of potential outcomes if the game was played.
Detroit is close to 1/2 way, though no weather elements kind of sucks considering both teams are outdoors. Maybe Cleveland is a better choice as the Lions will be playing……
(Let a Lions fan dream a little)
Cinci definitely screwed hardest but if you talk about losing their slim parlay to be the #1 seed, you have to offset that at least a little with negating the possibility of losing to the Bills ~40something percent of the time and to the Ravens (vig free % is 26.18 or so atm) and losing the division completely.
Bills also lost their parlay to come back from a 4 point deficit midway through the first quarter as a 2.5 point favorite, and then hit their 78% or so shot at beating the pats (which would be higher if they did beat the bengals imo).
Chiefs gain the #1 seed equity that the Bengals lost and the portion of it that the Bills lost in exchange for a neutral site AFCC game a decent portion of the time.
Solid trade for KC imo.
Cinci is getting the worst of it for sure. They win the division but still might have to play ravens on the road, they get the tougher schedule next year and worst draft pick as well.
Do Bengals even have anything to play for now?
My understanding is if they don’t win final game they have to coin toss for home field.
